This place is now the only bar in Colfax. For a small place it's quite satisfying. It's a good choice if your just wanting to grab a cold one on a hot day or even grab a bite to eat. The staff is always on point and friendly.

I had the cheeseburger, and it was very tasty. The employees here like what they do and it shows. Plenty of room in the lot out front and available places at the bar and at tables inside and out to dine. Clean bathrooms and cool decorations throughout the restaurant.

Joyce child's, what kind of service dog needs to be carried in. My dog is awesome but it's a business and an emotional support pet is not a service dog. Red frog is cool, godspeed

Hey Joyce Childs - Your 1-star 'review' was only about your 'service dog' rejection. What kind of motorcycle rider needs a 'service' dog?!? You have a chip on your shoulder - and an emotional problem to boot. Don't blame a quirky (well-liked) mountain pub for their perceived lack of accommodation. If you were blind, you need a service dog - you obviously aren't. Your purse dog is an emotional crutch. You even said you looked up The Red Frog prior to your visit, seeing "horrible reviews regarding service dogs." - yet you STILL went there!
I have left a 5-star review to try to counter your 1-star insult. I have not even been there - was just thinking about it. Now I will.
Driving by The Red Frog, it looked like the place to go. My friends and I had heard so many good things about it, and it did not disappoint. Even on a Saturday night it wasn't overly busy. It’s definitely a local hangout spot, and you can tell everyone loves it there. The service was great; all the staff were super kind and even happy to make changes to a drink if you wanted. The burgers and fries were delicious—probably the best I’ve had in a while. But honestly, nothing really beats the view from the back deck. You can see the whole area, and it’s just beautiful, especially around sunset. Plus, the decor inside and all over the property is really cool. It’s got this cozy yet lively vibe that makes you want to stay and hang out for hours. If you’re ever in the area and looking for a great place to eat and chill, The Red Frog is definitely the spot.
Kid-friendliness: wouldn't recommend for children, total bar scene

Service was super slow, they were busy waiting for the Big Boy train, but I think waiting for 20 minutes for a beer is a bit excessive.

There were no pool tables. There was cold beer though and a friendly bartender to serve it. It was over 100 degrees outside so that beer went down good and the AC kept the room cool too. There is a great view on the patio of the canyon behind the town of Colfax it's a good stop for a quick drink and run or stay all day cause there's nothing Goin on
The Frog was everything I thought it would be.

A few friends decided to go on a motorcycle ride in the foothills and wanted to stop for lunch at The Red Frog. I had never been there and went on yelp to see the menu and reviews. There were horrible reviews regarding service dogs. I have a small service dog, well trained and not a bother, but the reviews said they did not allow service dogs. I called and asked the woman who answered the phone if service dogs were allowed. I even mentioned the bad reviews and that I did not want to make a fuss. If it was going to be a problem I would go somewhere else. She said that they were trying to improve the service dog issue and that it should not be a problem. She also said that we could sit on the patio. From the photos I assumed the patio was in the back.
When we arrived and entered I was holding my service dog in my arms. Two different staff members started YELLING at me "no dogs, no dogs." I stated that I had called the day before and was told the service dog would be allowed to enter. I said I wanted to let my friends know that I was told to leave. They continued to yell at me. I went out to the front fenced area without any shade and no one came out to take an order or bring any water etc. We decided it was not going to work out and we left. It was obvious that they had no interest in keeping out business.
In a previous review the owner had stated that he did not want to get sued because a service dog might bite another patron. Service dogs do not bite, they do their jobs. How would the owner like to be sued for discrimination and not following the ADA rules? Do they have handicapped parking? are their bathrooms ADA accessible? This could get very expensive.

Low key place that is frequented by the locals it seems. Friendly people, artsy, funky environment with yard and the art. You can sit on the back bar and look out to a very nice view.Bar and food. The only shortcoming is the menu. It’s very limited. Pub food. But the cheeseburger and fries were excellent.
