Alma's Place

Ever since I found Alma's Place, I've been a returning customer. My favorites are the Mac & Cheese, Potato salad, Cabbage, Green beans, Fried pork chops dinner, pork chop sandwich, pork chops lunch special, they carry other items. But these are my go to. Dressing and gravy served only on Sundays, I'm trying next, ppl love ordering it, and they yams. Also next on my list here, trying the Pan Seared Catfish/ with bell peppers and onions.

The foof is freshly done hot and delicious... and no doubt about it the soulful atmosphere is outstanding

First time and definitely not the last. I couldn't even make it out of the parking lot. I said let me try a taste of everything and end up eating 90% of all my food.

This place was horrible will never come back I spent $40 on a chicken meal cake and lemonade cake was horrible chicken was not seasoned well greens were not good Mac and cheese was horrible dry as hell the yams were ok but other than that everything was not good at all

We tried Alma’s after a review from Tik Tok and it did not disappoint! I love that the restaurant is family owned. The server was so helpful and amazing. The fish was cooked to perfection. The macaroni was delicious. I wasn’t the only one who thought so because my husband and I bought the last two. I was craving more 🤤. The chicken was crispy and to perfection as well. Even though the chicken and the seasoning of the chicken was good, as a Louisiana woman I wish the cook was a little more heavy handed with the chicken seasoning, but that could be a matter of preference. The strawberry cake and the tropical koolaid were sweet treats. I like how the koolaid was the right amount of sweet and not watery or diabetic coma like. I also had the red beans. The flavor in the seasoning was a nice take on what I’m use red beans tasting like. Because I was so full, I saved some of the red beans for the next day, and they were even better than the first day.The greens and the cabbage didn’t have much flavor which is why the review is a 4 and not a 5. Overall when I visit Compton again, Alma’s is definitely a first stop!

Food is good when in stock

Small menu. But they flavors pack a punch. My favorite is, Mac&Cheese, potatoe salad, pork chops, and the fish.

The greens and yams were not fully cooked. When I called to complain the restaurant stated this is how they prepare them. Never had crunchy greens and yams!! This place also gave me the large hormone injected chicken wings!!

This was like pulling up to your grandma house the place is lovely the staff is too.
I got the shrimp and grits the whole thing was balanced. cheese, shrimp, bell peppers, onion and spices. A side of eggs completed it. For dinner I got turkey chops red beans n rice, greens, mac n cheese, and yams. I feel sleep in my chair with a full belly like a grandpa? it was a truly great experience even the customers feel like cousins. Ill be back Sundays at least twice a month got my next order written down. Go by and show your love. Don't sleep on the drinks and deserts. Truly food for your soul.
