If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! Tacos El Checo on Alameda is hands down one of the most mouth-watering, authentic taco spots I’ve ever been to in Los Angeles. From the moment I walked up, I could feel the warmth of this family-owned and operated gem. Everything about it feels welcoming, clean, and made with so much love.

The food? Absolutely delicious. Every bite was bursting with flavor — perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked to perfection. You can truly taste the care and tradition in every taco. It’s the kind of food that makes you close your eyes while you eat because it’s that good.

What really made my visit even more special was the sweet owner and her son, who treated me like family. They were so kind and welcoming, and to my surprise, they even offered me complimentary papas — such a thoughtful touch that truly shows how much they value their customers.

Every time I’m in this area, I cannot wait to come back. It’s not just a meal here, it’s an experience — the type of place that leaves you full, happy, and already planning your next visit. Tacos El Checo is an absolute treasure in LA, and I recommend it 100% to anyone looking for authentic, delicious, and heart-filled food!

Thank you guys for the experience:)

husband ordered the all meat (pollo/chicken) with no onions and added cheese. Said it was amazing and the chicken was perfectly grilled. I however did not favor my meal. I ordered the meat (half pastor/half lingua) nachos. I think I expected either homemade nacho cheese sauce or cheese blend on chips then put under broiler to melt. what I got was canned nacho cheese sauce that had been thinned down with water as it was rather soupy. The chips sadly turned to mush due to the watery cheese sauce and the easily half cup of red sauce that was poured over the top. Sadly I cannot tell you if the meats were good because they were drowning in red sauce. For 14.00 I expected better quality. we will go back, I will order 2 tacos no sauce next time.

Food was yummie!!!! We were desperately craving tacos and quesadillas, and we lucked up and found this place before it closed. The hours say they're open until 1:30am but we called to make sure, and they were already picking up at 12:30am/1:00am, so prepare ahead of their closing times..

The food was so good I forgot to take pictures, we tried the quesa taco with carne asada, a quesa taco with el pastor, a quesa birria taco, a mulida I think it was called with chicken and a burrito. Everything was amazing! The flour tortillas are so good!!! My kids loved the horchata
