Be careful when using coupons so you don't get scolded by the manager.

I visited the store to redeem a mailed coupon offering two Footlongs for $13.99. During my order, the female staff member (who identified herself as the manager and whose name appeared to be Irene) prepared my sandwich with an unprofessional and dismissive attitude. She added ingredients in tiny, inadequate portions—almost mockingly—as if she didn’t want to serve me. I politely asked for more, but her attitude remained clearly unwilling and unpleasant.

When I proceeded to pay and presented the coupon, her facial expression turned even more negative. She refused to accept the coupon, claiming I should have shown it before placing the order. I have been a Subway customer for over 20 years, and I have never been told this was a requirement.

When I suggested discuss about this issue to the next customer in line to verify, she suddenly changed her explanation, saying it was her personal decision whether or not to accept the coupon, and that each location has its own policy. This is an obvious lie and completely unacceptable. At this point, I could not help but feel that I was being discriminated against as an Asian woman.

Ultimately, she told me that because I did not show the coupon at the beginning, she would not honor it, and that accepting the coupon was entirely up to her discretion. The experience left me feeling angry, disrespected, and racially targeted.

I’ve always had a positive impression of Subway’s service and food quality, but this incident has completely changed my perception. If this person is truly the store manager, her rude, discriminatory, and unprofessional behavior reflects extremely poorly on Subway as a brand.

I am seriously considering consulting a lawyer to explore my options regarding racial discrimination and emotional distress. I also plan to share this experience with my community, colleagues, and publicly online, so others can be aware of the treatment I received.

I request a full investigation into this matter and a formal written response from your company. This kind of behavior should have no place in any Subway location.

I came in 20 minutes before closing, which I know is annoying so I already planned to give a large tip. However Alix was extremely rude the entire time and letting it be very known she was annoyed I came in. Ariana was not friendly but not rude. Alix wouldn’t even allow me to finish the sandwiches before interrupting to see if I was done and could come swipe my card. Now instead of getting a great tip and a nice review, they still had to do their job for no tip and their attitude is on display. Let me mention that I ordered quickly and was out before 9 when they close, if you don’t want to do your job then get a new one. Simple.
