We happened to get an impatient & unfriendly waitress and decided to leave after finishing the nachos. The gentleman who sat us was kind.

Such a great spot! The food was delicious, the place was clean and inviting. The staff is super friendly. The food is handmade and beautiful. Jaida was super sweet by recommending some of her favorite dishes, which we ordered and loved. Oh and the fried ice cream is worth saving some room!

One of my favorite places in town! They have the best Chilli Verde!

Dietary restrictions: If you have an allergy they will cook your food separate from all others just to be sure there is no cross contamination. It's wonderful you can eat without worry.

A great experience at Avila’s like always! We had never been to this location but enjoyed it just like other locations. The fresh tortillas were amazing too!

Decent food and really good service.
Honestly, I would strongly recommend El Matador, though. Although this establishment has decent food, El Matador has much better flavor, and they also have a Taco Tuesday where the prices are much more reasonable.
El Matador, our bill is under 40 dollars (before tip) on Tuesday. This place our bill was roughly 50 (before tip) dollars on Tuesday for the same dish. Granted, it's only 10 dollars, but 10 bucks is 10 bucks.
Disclaimer......I do NOT work for El Matador, nor am I getting compensated by El Matador for this review.
I'm just providing my own personal review.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review.

P.S.
They also discontinued the free fresh made warm flour tortillas with butter, which was a bummer. I believe the waiter said they charge 3 dollars for them now.

Had this place cater a company event and when picking up the food the manager was a complete jerk because he had no idea how to use his own card machine. On the third time I told him I'll enter it myself and it works. Mind you he was a jerk the 2 other times he tried trying to imply we didn't have the funds. Learn how to do your job.

Best restaurant in Orange County. Been going here since I was a 5 year old and it has now been over 35 years. I currently take my wife and kids here and we love it every time. Best food, best service and the best Costa Mesa has to offer.

This family owned restaurant always exudes a positive energy. It has been here for decades, and the staff, food, and service keep my family and friends coming back for more. They now have at least four locations locally, and all do good business.

A pleasant sit-down with a nice, comfortable, traditional style atmosphere. We are always greeted by a host, who is often in management, and we are promptly seated.

The wait staff are quick initially, and your order is taken soon after you are seated. They check on you often.

There is a full bar, a full menu providing various dishes, including good traditional variations to choose from.

We have eaten breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, and have come in for the bar.

The deserts are nice as well.

We can recommend Avilla's El Ranchito on Placentia Avenue in Costa Mesa.

Vegetarian options: Great food and the grilled vegetables are awesome as an option to the rice and beans in a combination meal.

Kid-friendliness: Good for individuals, couples, families, coworkers, etc.

Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access for wheelchairs and walkers
