Hakata Ikkousha Tonkotsu Ramen in Costa Mesa offers a delightful dining experience with delicious food and a cozy, no-frills atmosphere. The ramen bowls are described as masterpieces, with perfectly executed toppings and a complex, flavorful broth. The spicy favorite, like the Black Devil, is recommended for those who enjoy a nice kick, and the chashu bowl and royal pudding were also highlights. The service is fast and friendly, and the staff focus on customer satisfaction. The noodle texture is just right, and the basic toppings are already generous.
Unfortunately, the restaurant's Costa Mesa location is permanently closing on October 26, 2025, as their lease has ended and the landlord did not want to extend it. Many customers express sadness over the closure, as they have been visiting the restaurant for almost a decade and consider it the best ramen in Orange County and the USA. They praise the authentic Japanese atmosphere, with the staff speaking Japanese and the presence of Japanese customers. The manager and staff at this location will be missed.
The remaining Hakata Ikkousha Tonkotsu Ramen location will be in Torrance, which is too far for some customers to visit regularly. Despite the closure, the restaurant is praised for its delicious and authentic ramen, friendly service, and comfortable ambiance, making it a favorite spot for many.
