The wife and I tried Hole Smokes last night. We tried a couple apps and the Tray 4 Two so that we could get a few different meats to try. The fried pickles were really good with both the chipotle sauce and with ranch. I liked the chipotle better. The honey glazed burnt ends were ok- very tender and juicy, but lacked a bit of flavor. For the meats we had a sausage link, brisket and tritip. The link was good- wife really liked it a lot. The brisket was maybe the best we've had- very tender, juicy and some good flavor. The tritip was very good and had a beautiful smoke ring. For the sides, we tried the cornbread cake, brussel sprouts, and French fries. Was surprise that the cornbread was cold. We liked the flavor, and my wife liked the cinnamon butter (i preferred no butter, but I'm not as big a cinnamon fan as my wife). The sprouts were great and loved the glaze that was on them. The fries were really good as well. Looking forward to bringing the kids back and trying a few more things. Service was great and on top of things for refills, sauce, etc.

We've been fans of Hole Mole. Our son recommended the Philly brisket sandwich and it did not disappoint. We came on St. Paddy's day so it was not crowded. We were greeted immediately and seated. Staff were very nice , our waiter was great. He was so nice and checked back several times during our stay. My husband and I ordered the Philly Brisket Sandwich. My picky husband rated it 10/10. It is spicy if you like spice. One side is included. I had the brussel sprouts (6/5) and my husband had the potato salad (5/5). We will definitely be back and i highly recommended you come here too.

Food was great. I got the moist brisket with macncheese and Cole slaw. Brisket was moist and flavorful. A little salty and a little peppery, as it should be. Nice smoke ring. Sides were solid. Service was good. Sat right away. Server was good. I don't live around here but will come back next time I'm in town

Holy Crap!! An affordable, good bbq spot with Texas country music, Shiner on tap, cans and tall boys, amazing service and good que in Costa Mesa!! I am a Texan who has been looking for a good bbq spot for 17years. Holé Smokes has done what many have tried and failed. Is it Heritage Bbq in south county? No, nothing in CA is. Is it a great spot to watch a game and eat a good brisket sando or the lunch plate that is huge. 24 bucks for 2 meat and 2 monster sides. Yes. The only reason this is not 5 star is because the queso was a bit much. To much going on in it. Brisket was a little dry but not chewy and flavorful and the bark was on point. Tri-tip was on point. Brussels sprouts amazing and the Mac and cheese was good. Service was good and honest about what the liked. Robert Earl Keen playing and a cold Shiner I almost thought I was home. Thank you thank you thank you Holé Smokes!! I will be back.

Been three times in a month now. Had to share with friends and family. Like what they did with the dining area. Good selection of normal BBQ and then their own spin on sides. Pretty affordable for a BBQ

Wait,,,,,can I give Service 12 stars ??Talk about a great experience. Great food. GREAT service. Great prices. We went during OC restaurant week. First time here.First up was the chips and Queso. It was so delicious. So tasty. A little spicy. But so good.We ordered brisket, TriTip and a hot link. Side orders of fries and potato salad. Everything was absolutely perfect. The meat were delicious. The sides were great. Finally we got dessert. Banana pudding. Wow. So good. The service was impeccable. Vivian was our server and she was very attentive. Super great service.I got to be honest and say that every single thing I tasted was delicious. Nothing was off. Everything was perfectly awesome.I definitely look forward to coming back. Which we will.

Real deal central Texas bbq with black oak and pecan wood. Flavor as bold as the lone star state. Worth the money for great bbq. So good you dont need sauce. Try the burnt ends and fried pickles with house made pickled red onions. Tri tip had deep red ring of smoke and was fork tender. Peach cobbler worth taking home if you have the sweet tooth. Large selection of beer, wine, and margaritas. Wait staff is on it and knows how to take care of patrons. Cannot wait for warmer evenings to eat on the patio. Small plates are great to share.

Service was good. Had the 3 meat with two sides. Pork ribs and brisket were excellent. Tri tip was tough and not very flavorable. Sides, I had the potato salad and cowboy beans. Disappointed in the sides. Good serving size, again, not a lot of flavor. Dessert was peach cobbler which was very good. Price was okay.

Went twice before reviewing. 1st time was great. Ordered brisket and mac & cheese. 2nd w/ family, the brisket was served COLD, the sweet tea had gone bad, the tri tip was flavorless, and the cowboy beans tasted sour like they were mixed with vinegar and would not go away no matter how much bbq sauce I put in it.Bbq nachos where pretty good.Loaded baked potato is good. Comes w/ chorizo.Potato salad is ok. You can really taste the mustard.Daddy beans are great. My sugesstion: only get the brisket or link and daddy beans. Tea or Lemonade but send it back if it has turned. Probably won't be back but if you live close by and have a craving that only brisket can satisfy, try them out.

We came here about a week ago for date night. My husband is very picky about his bbq and he absolutely loved this place. He even ordered a combo meal to go for his lunch the next day! We ordered the burnt ends as an appetizer, they were amazing. Highly recommend. Then my husband had the dinosaur rib and baked beans. I had the brisket and tri tip with Brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese. Brisket was my favorite, not too fatty at all like most places. Servers were nice and food was out in a timely manner. Great bbq spot. We will be back for sure!!!

Service and ambience were top notch. Tried the ribs, bunt ends, and brisket...while the flavor and cook were outstanding, as many others have pointed out the food was cold. Not sure why the restaurant hasn't fixed this issue by now since this seems to be a common complaint.
