Hole in the wall style authentic Japanese style sushi. Good prices for quality sushi. Seasonal menu. Draft beer.

Visiting California and taken here by host off the cuff. So happy we found Kappo. The service, atmosphere and food were top! So enjoyed it. All dishes were gorgeous. The sushi and salmon skin salad stuck out in my mind. Thanks Kappo!

I don’t often leave reviews but this was the best sushi I’ve had since visiting Thailand 7 or 8 years ago. The service is extremely attentive and the quality of the food was out of this world.

Can’t recommend enough!!

Stopped in on a cold rainy day craving Japanese soup, and was drawn to trying this place after seeing photos of the food and reading some of the reviews. I had the Inaniwa Udon, the Ginger Eggplant, the Negi Toro Roll, the Basque Cheesecake, the Matcha Panna Cotta and some warm sake. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I took the rest of the udon to go. The service was excellent. I enjoyed sitting at the bar, and all of the staff were very kind, polite and accommodating. They even let me charge my phone when it died so I could take an uber after. All the guests seemed to enjoy themselves and very appreciative, the atmosphere was great and relaxed. All tasted very delicious, and I am not sure I could pick a favorite. I would say the cheesecake and the Udon tasted better than in most restaurants, and I had not tried eggplant ginger before which was recommended and I loved. I was delighted there was so much Udon so I could have more later. I will definitely come here again when I am in

Delicious, authentic Japanese food in a cozy setting. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. Been coming here for years and I've never had anything less than a perfect experience. Their sushi is top-notch but you can try anything on the menu and you will be blown away. Don't skip out on dessert, either! Their pastry chef Zuke makes an incredible basque cheesecake and some of the best panna cotta I've ever had

In years past, in a different city, I searched and finally found a “hole in the wall” burrito place that made the best Mexican food you could hope for.
This is the equivalent place for Japanese food, and specifically sushi. All the food here is authentic, made by traditionally trained Japanese sushi chefs with essential training and concern for the aspects that make real Japanese Sushi, and Japanese food, in general.
Zuku, who took care of us, is a man who cares about the clientele, and presenting a quality meal in all ways. Chiaki, was our server, and was on top of her game, making sure everyone was well taken care of, always with a smile for us.
The cooks were fantastic. The ingredients top notch, the meal well balanced.
We got the Omakase, it was perfect.
We have eaten at Sushi Roku, as well as Nobu, in the last week. If I were to go back to one of the three places, I would go here without question. The food was better, and not just because it was more authentically Japanese. The cost here was lower, for more, better, sushi.
The desserts, and we tried all four options, were perfect, each in their own way. The cheesecake was worth the visit all by itself.
I am not a novice when it comes to sushi, having lived in Japan for a number of years. As such I can attest to the idea that the best sushi is made by those who have trained, taught by Sushi Masters, over many years. That is what you get here. This is not sushi that has to be drowned in sauces. It is perfect on its own, and should be experienced and enjoyed if you really want to know what good sushi is.
