This place is AUTHENTIC! If you can’t spare a trip to Japan, make a trip here! They have your standard menu items (salmon, tuna, eel) but also some exotic items (Hokkaido uni) and even off menu specials (flounder cheeks). I didn’t get a chance to try many items, but the ones I did, were extremely memorable.
I highly recommend the steamed egg (Chawanmushi). It is full of well seasoned seafood that compliments the truffles and steamed egg, leaving a lasting memory that begs you to order again.
Another recommendation is the monkfish liver (Ankimo). While not for everyone, if you enjoy foie gras (duck liver), you will definitely enjoy this dish. The flavor profiles is unique, as the ankimo is prepped in-house with a chef’s special blend of seasonings and spices. It is also served with a special blend of sauce and seaweed that compliments the firm, yet creamy texture of ankimo that melts in your mouth.
UPDATE: Having visited this establishment again, I have modified my review. The consistency in both food quality and flavor was not there. I ordered salmon collar and it smelled foul upon arrival; tasted that way too. The Chawanmushi was lighter in flavor as well.

Nothing short of fantastic. I wanted my date to try uni for the first time and thank goodness for this restaurant and staff for both the excellent quality and the helpful/thoughtful suggestions. We'll be back :)

One of the best sushi restaurants in Orange County, I would rate it top 3, especially when price is taken into account

Most authentic japanese sushi and izakaya in oc. They have a really large menu but do everything well. They also have rotating specials and sake.

Small sushi place, the servers friendly, and i liked most of the things we got. The only disappointment was that despite placing our order in advance because we were a large group they still messed up our order.

Came from the bar next door for a late night snack & it was perfect. Delicious sushi, awesome service. I was just expecting a quick bite before heading home and ended up treating myself to the best sushi I’ve had in a long time. Very happy to have found my new spot & on the night the Dodgers clinched the World Series! Win win win of a night. Got bluefin, yellowtail, albacore, & mackerel. All 10/10.

First time to try this place and I was not disappointed at all. They are open for lunch 12-2 but closed on Monday I believe. They have a set lunch menu or order a la carte. The freshness of the fish was amazing! A bit pricey but for the quality of food, it is worth paying extra bucks. I will be back for sure

I called them to make a reservation for a big table, and they booked me for Monday, the day that they actually don’t open. On Monday we went there and found the restaurant was closed. On the other day I called the restaurant asking what’s happening, they said they were trying to call me to reschedule before Monday, and everything was confirmed. I said I never received/ missed such call. I then verified my number with them, and they gave me a completely different number! I asked them: how did you call me to reschedule if the number is wrong? What does the person on the phone said when they try to reschedule?? They said they don’t know, and would like their manager call me back on Friday, since he/she doesn’t work on that day. I waited for almost a week and expecting that they are gonna give me an explanation. However, I did not receive any phone call on Friday. What a service!

I ordered the chefs special sashimi, the lamb chops, the chicken and green onion, and had a bite of the duck skewer.

The sashimi had a total of 5 cuts, from left to right being salmon, scallops, bluefin tuna, smoked octopus, and amberjack. Unfortunately, it may have been an off day for them, because I wasn't seeing the wonderful praise other reviewers gave this place.

I almost always order salmon first at any sushi place I go to, because it's got a distinct flavor and from that alone, I can tell the quality of it. This salmon was very bland in flavor, as if it was frozen too long and the flavor disappeared. Scallops too had a lighter flavor than usual. Ironically, I usually don't like bluefin tuna too much, but because the flavor was lighter, I enjoyed this one more. Smoked octopus was okay but I'm not too big of a fan of it, and the amberjack was okay but also more bland.

Now the lambchops had a great presentation to them, and tasted really good, with the Wasabi mixture it came with. Easily the best part of the meal, and would have ordered only this if I knew ahead of time.

The chicken skewer was okay, a bit bland, and mainly carried by the spice powder on the table.
