I eat sushi at least twice a week if not more. I've been to the most expensive spots, hole in the wall spots, and everything in between. This place is my new favorite sushi spot in OC! The omakase was one of the best I've ever had, we got so lucky that the owner was there and cooked for us! The fish was so fresh and the service was great too. It's a small restaurant so they are very attentive. The only thing to know is that the parking lot is small and fills up quickly, so get there early to find parking or Uber/lyft!

A hidden gem in Costa Mesa. Located at an unassuming strip mall. My friend and I each did the $100 omakase where they served beautifully some amazing fish. Ordered oysters on the half shell and white fish carpaccio. My daughter who's a picky eater really liked the white fish. They have a variety of options on their menu where you can get some grilled items as well. Awesome to have a sale sampler so I know what to get next time. It's worth the price tag as they serve quality.

I love Sushi. I eat Sushi as often as possible. Someone says lets go to Sushi, I am there! My friend has been trying to get me to go to K's for awhile and it just never worked out. Yesterday was the day. My first impression was: Where is this place? I even walked in to the place next door by accident. When I did not see a sushi bar, I knew it was the wrong place. They are in a strip mall next to The Huddle and the lot is not so nice. Walking in to K's was like being transported into an upscale area. I was greeted by the staff and the chef's and as it was 1:15, the place was empty. We both ordered the sushi lunch special (see pic) which comes with miso soup (more about that later) which was definitely one of the better miso soups I have had. The ambiance was great, the chefs engaging and entertaining, the server attentitive and when the lunch came out.... the presentation was Amazing!!! The sushi is expensive, but the taste qualified the cost. My 2 reasons for 4 stars (If Yelp had a half, I would give 4.5) was: A. My friend ordered soup when he first sat down, as he always does at a sushi bar and when we got the bill we were charged $5 for soup... which comes with the lunch special. B. We asked for Ponzu sauce and there was a charge on the bill for Ponzu. Seriously??? At least they did not charge for smelt eggs which we asked for on our handrolls, as some places will, so that was either nice, or an oversight. Regardless, I will definitely be going back for the lunch specials and some of the other specials they offer and would love to have the omakase dinner soon.

Dear K's bistro, I'm one of your loyal customers and I come here almost once a week. I ordered Roasted Wagyu Don for lunch at the store. unfortunately, what I had and the food on the poster at the entrance were two completely different things, even without the onsen egg. I found the quality of the wagyu beef served to be far below what I have experienced in the past at your store. The wagyu beef was very woodsy, very thin and extremely dry in texture, making me feel like I was eating beef jerky. All of the wagyu beef I have previously tasted at your store has had excellent flavor and texture, but this experience was very disappointing. When I brought this up to the clerk, they told me it was a different type of Wagyu called US Wagyu. The clerk ended up giving a 50 percent discount on this dish. Hopefully the ingredients themselves can be upgraded to at least do not deviate so much from the poster.

3.5 stars. overall, this place is okay. as the courses went on, the fish got better & better. however, the rice is quite subpar and almost overpowering because of how much there is & its temperature (pretty warm rice). i feel like this was my issue for most of the sushi i got. started off with the red snapper, and it was overly salty. the rest were fine, but what stood out the most to me was trout, amberjack, scallop, uni, & bluefin tuna. the nodoguro was one of the special fishes offered & it was okay, i expected more given that it is supposed to be a more rare/expensive fish (according to google). interesting enough, the bluefin tuna tasted better than the fatty belly tuna (toro). gold flakes on the toro were whatever, didn't care for it at all. at $4.5-15/piece, it's not bad, but not every piece is consistent either. the restaurant itself is nice inside with attentive and kind staff. parking is plentiful but it does share a parking lot with a few other locations.

The sushi was not pretentious, it was affordable and delicious! We did flights of sake and it was smooth. We'll be back !!

Big shoes to fill for K's having taken the place of Ikko. $$$ sushi prices. Slices of fish are medium size. Price is per piece. At first they didn't take reservations but now they do. They also have a yelp waitlist. If there's a wait you can always go next door to the huddle and have a drink. Chefs are nice and service is good. The two people working the floor are constantly hustling. Specialty nigiri is like $$$$. Selection of fish from Japan. They have some yakitori but I don't think its the strength...pretty undercooked which you don't typically see. Overall its a good option for high, but not super high end sushi.

I first heard of K's Bistro from a friend of mine who absolutely loves this restaurant. Located in Costa Mesa, K's Bistro is within a fairly small plaza with ample parking spots. If you're unable to find parking in the lot, there's also a lot of street parking available! However, if you go on a Friday/weekend night, and if the nearby Arena is crowded then you will have a difficult time finding parking. The restaurant itself is very small with limited tables and bar seating available. This makes it more intimate; however, it can mean longer wait times especially if you come during a busy hour. I came in a group of four, and without a reservation it took us over an hour to finally get seated. One critique I have regarding the service is that we never got any updates on our wait time. We were originally told that we would wait for 30 minutes, but after 30 minutes passed, they kept adding an additional 20 minutes without even asking for our names to check. For the food, I ordered the fatty tuna belly, amberjack, salmon, red snapper, and bluefin tuna nigiris, each one piece. For the table, my friends and I shared creamy salmon roll and the Santa Monica roll. This amount of food was a good amount to have me satisfied, but not completely stuffed. All of my friends and I ordered the same amount and we all were satisfied. Each of the nigiri pieces were so fresh and some of the cuts, especially the fatty tuna belly, would just melt in my mouth! I also appreciated how meticulous they were with their presentation of each of the dishes. You could immediately tell from the nigiri that their sashimi was so fresh! The rolls were also so delightful. I loved how the creamy salmon roll was so refreshing with the hint of citrus that coated each of the rolls, while the Santa Monica roll also had a tangy kick from the ponzu! For dessert, I ordered the panna cotta, and it was definitely the perfect way to end the meal. It was so soft and the perfect amount of sweetness, making it "not too sweet." Overall, I enjoyed my time at K's Bistro, and would recommend it to others who are looking for a sushi restaurant in the Costa Mesa area! I only deducted one star from my review due to my experience with the waits/service, but I would still love to come back again!

I really wanted to love this restaurant. I really did. It was recommended to me by someone in the food industry and the high yelp ratings only got me more excited by oh boy did this place fall short of my expectations. Let me start with the good. The ambiance was quaint and intimate. We sat by the sushi bar and our sushi chef was very nice and friendly. The service was also prompt and attentive. Where it went south for me was the actual food. The fish was simply subpar compared to my other usual sushi spots. The presentation was great but so lacking in taste and texture. The salmon was one of the worst I've ever had in my life. Even the fatty tuna belly priced at $8.50 a piece was very unimpressive! And don't even get me started on the panna cotta dessert(insert eye-roll). To add insult to injury, their prices are way too high for the quality, portions and location of the restaurant. All in all this was a disappointment for me and I'm certainly not coming back.

I had a wonderful dinner here last night sitting at the bar. Beautiful presentation, and the fish was excellent. This place reminded me of Kame , the one located in Vegas. I can't wait to come back and try the Omakase. I had a few dishes yesterday with great sake. Everything was delicious.

First time trying this new restaurant and definitely a must try.Service and food here was phenomenal. I love how small the restaurant was that it gave you the feeling of being in a nice sushi restaurant in Japan. Everything we ordered here was on point with the exception of the ama ebi. If I could add one thing that they could do better, is it that when we ordered the ama ebi during a dinner rush is that if it could be prepared and served immediately. It was a little bit slimey although still tasty due to the fact that it sat longer than it should have.Other than that, I would most definitely dine here again. Don’t forget the sweet potato brûlée for dessert. Must have.Domo arigato!!

I crave sushi fairly often and have been trying new places and had yet to be satisfied. I had this spot bookmarked for a few months and finally decided to go since they were pretty much the only place open late on my bookmark list. I am so glad that was the case because everything was so good. Upon arrival, I was a bit sketched out because it was in a dark complex with just the open sign lit. However, after walking in, we got a warm welcome from staff. I decided to try a selection of nigiri: Amberjack from Japan [Best sushi piece on the menu, hands down] Scallop from Japan [Underdog, but ended up being second best] Yellowtail from Japan [First one given, which got me excited for the rest] Fatty Tuna Belly, Halibut, & Salmon [Super good, would get again] Bluefin Tuna, Albacore, & Red Snapper from Japan [Good, but would try other sushi pieces instead] I will definitely be back to try other things on their menu!

I'm from San Francisco, and this place blew me away. Amazing fish, and fish from Japan that's not very accessible in the U.S.

I love coming here. It has a wonderful ambiance and I feel welcomed every time I set foot at K's Bistro. My hot tea and cold water is always full. The sushi are fresh and delicious. And the combination of my one bite is well thought out, savoring each sushi flavor profile. Sometimes it amazes me that I taste sweet in some of the sushi, my guess it's because of the quality of sushi. There ikura or salmon roe has such a distinct flavor compared to other sushi restaurants. I will keep coming back to K's Bistro, I know I won't be disappointed.

look no further if you are looking for an intimate date night OR just want really good sushi. It's small so not great for large parties but it's the best sushi I have had in OC. They are open until midnight which is awesome for late nights. PS rolls are definitely meant to feed 2 people or 1 if you're realllly hungry! Highly recommend the Saigon roll for something light and flavorful
