Fabulous meal! Tomato burrata and shrimp crabcake appetizer Amazing! Duck breast delicious. Excellent wine! Thanks for a great meal.
WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS ONCE OUTSTANDING RESTAURANT????We have eaten here several times before and the food has always been good and the service impeccable. Last night, however, was far more than a 1 off. At 5:30 We were seated almost immediately at the table I had requested when I made the reservation two months earlier so the evening started off well. It took 10 minutes for anyone to return to our table with waters and two rolls and butter but she did not have time to take our drink orders as she was responsible for 5 other tables including 2 large parties. Finally we were able to order drinks, but she was not able to take our dinner orders as she was rushing to get other orders. Each time we saw her she apologized and after 30 minutes, I called her over to ask her what was going on. She said "Welcome to my world for the last two months". My back was to the tables near the entrance, so I could not see what the manager was doing but I did notice kitchen staff bringing food to some of the tables. We finally ordered our food and because nearly an hour had now passed, we decided not to order an appetizer and instead ordered a salad and our entrees (halibut and a RARE filet) The food arrived about 15 minutes later and my steak was well done so I called her over and she apologized. My husband's fish was also overcooked it tasted like shoe leather but he did not send it back. My new RARE steak arrived a short time later.. At 7:05 we decided to forgo dessert and pay our bill and we called her over to pick up the credit card and she asked us if we wanted dessert and said it would only take a moment so I acquiesced and ordered the sorbet. My husband again attempted to give her the credit card but she was called away to take 6 cards from one of the large parties, where apparently all 6 people wanted separate checks....The chef himself brought me the sorbet (3 of them on a small platter)) & my angry husband stood in line to pay the bill...You get the picture!
1. Called over 12 times during Leatherby's business hours over a 2 week period - no answer. Left 2 messages - no callbacks. 2. Service was unbelievably slow - horrible. Only 1 waitress serving a large area. Only 1 bartender for entire restaurant. 3. This restaurant opens at 5 on “performance nights” only. Shows typically start at 7:30. Leatherby's should have been prepared to accommodate guests in a timely fashion. 4. Food was delicious BUT one couple with us both Ordered the filet medium rare. One piece of meat was about 2.5 inches thick, the other maybe .75 inches thick ..... both were overcooked. 5. When I received an email from Open Table to confirm my reservation, I saw there was a tab where I could send a message — it didn't work!
Our dining experience was excellent from the moment we entered to the time we left. Our waitress was very personable and helpful. I ordered the pasta entree and it was very delicious. The room temperature was very, very comfortable. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I highly recommend Leatherby's for a special evening out.
Excellent food. The crab cakes and shrimp were delicious. So convenient to dine and then go to a play. I'd definitely go back.
Made a reservation after seeing a matinee at the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center. The food was great however the service was unacceptable.
Our server Michael was very attentive to our needs so we had a relaxing dinner and got to the ballet on time. Everyone was happy with their salads and fish entrees but my lamb chops were amazing, the best ever. We shared a delicious key lime pie for dessert. Wonderful dinner!
I rated service as a four, not because it was poor but because everything else about the dinner was extraordinary . Service was good, just not exceptional. Cannot wait to return soon.
Very enjoyable. Room lovely...small and intimate, floor to ceiling windows, cleanly appointed. Being on the arts plaza means not having to drive again from restaurant to theatre. A smaller menu, but I was told it changes frequently. Service top notch and food delicious.
The menu had a variety of tempting choices. The servings were very generous, appealing, and delicious. Our server, Michael was attentive and efficient! We will be back!

Food is good here. Solid. The drinks are so so and the wine by glass selection is weak. In a high end location, the bar and offerings should be top notch. For the same price and in the very same area are many better selections.
This was one of the loveliest dining experiences we have had in a long time. From the ambiance to the high quality of the dishes served, definitely worth the try if you have not been. Most importantly the people were kind and attentive.
Nice open dining space at Segerstrom. Small, but excellent menu. High quality food prepared well. Attentive and friendly staff. Great cocktails.
Outstanding food and wine, relaxing atmosphere and so convenient when attending a concert.
Food excellent, as always! Dignified. Perfect for pre-concert (which are only times it's open.)
