Used to be our go-to place for udon at south coast .. they have reasonable prices but , I think it would benefit them if they were able to visit the marugame at the diamond jamboree. Diamond jamboree there’s always someone bussing the tables and taking away dirty trays. And the food tastes way better and is hotter . My son who’s a huge marugame diamond jamboree fan was disappointed with this one. And I don’t think we will return

Marugame Udon has become one of my absolute favorite spots to eat! The moment you walk in, you can smell the fresh broth and watch the chefs hand-craft the noodles right in front of you—it feels like a mini trip to Japan.
I ordered the Nikutama Udon, and it was perfect: the noodles were chewy and fresh, the broth was rich and comforting, and the soft-boiled egg took it to another level. I also love that they let you customize with tempura on the side—my go-to is the shrimp tempura and sweet potato tempura, both always crispy and never greasy.
The cafeteria-style line makes everything quick and easy, which is great when you’re craving something fast but still high-quality. Even during busy hours, the staff is friendly and efficient.
Overall, Marugame Udon delivers amazing food, fair prices, and a fun atmosphere. It’s the kind of place I can come to for a quick solo meal or bring friends to share a bunch of sides. Every visit reminds me why I keep coming back!

Had the curry udon. Idk maybe I was spoiled after being in Japan. The curry broth seemed to have a lot lacking. Or was ok but not really as flavorful as I was hoping. The noodles were ok but probably could've been better of the broth was hotter. Overall good but hoping for better. The tempura that I had was good.

This is third time I tried this place. Every single time it getting worse. This time I get number 2 (Creamy Broth) and the udon taste like plastic. This place is known for their udon but it taste like package udon you left in the fridge for awhile. The broth is creamy but on salty side. Shrimp Tempura is really small for the price. This place sitting is always crowded. It feels like you in sardines can. There are many better udon place around this area. This is place is mediocre and expensive.

We had a good lunch here. There was a great authentic Japenease food selection. The staff was friendly and courteous. They processed our order quickly. The food was delicious. The tempura type food was the absolute best. It like being in Japan all over again!! The undon was especially good. The white rice with tempura flakes spread over the top was incredible.

Cashiers and managers are very helpful giving me a discount being a worker of South Coast Plaza Mall. All crews are greeting and friendly all the time. I'm happy that they let the to go order be done straight to the Cashier and not deal with a very long line of undecided customer . They let me do the half and half matcha and calamansi. Yesterday was not that great since Cashier misunderstanding me. I've paid 2 drinks yet got 1 free so I got 3 total for the price of 2. Not too bad
