This needs to be updated to 5*. Nicks is amazing. Never disappoints. They had a not so great host years ago. But now she's gone! They are still the best pizza and salads EVER. Love them!

Excellent pizza and pasta food. Love coming here when in the area as not many local places do pizza like these guys. Thick bready crested pizza's.

I paid $9 for a tiny moldy piece of cake…… absolutely disgusting. I will never be back.

We have been going here a VERY LONG TIME...The food is good. Not great. Consistent.HOWEVER...the portion sizes have changed drastically!!! I think pizza is the best & only bet from now on.

The service is all ways slow Here but what ever its the only Italian place by us and the pizza was a little raw burnt and doughy its also very expensive just for a pizza and some drinks and thats the reason why we only come Here once every year or so ?

First, we love the waiters at Nick's!!! They are great. I hate to even write this review. But, management needs to know... Nick's used to be one of our favorite spots, but over the last couple of years, they've gone way down hill. Sure, Covid...blah blah blah. So we keep giving them another chance. Today, I have a medical procedure and I'm supposed to only have bland food. I tell hubby I want Nick's pappardelle with the gorgonzola sauce. And, a salad, no tomatoes no onions. I HATE tomatoes AND I am not a fan of Nick's marinara (sorry). But, I LOVE the gorgonzola sauce and some other items! Well, hubs gets home and they had put marinara ALL over the pappardelle! And tomatoes on the salad. I was on the phone with my husband when he ordered at the counter so I know he ordered correctly. So, I called and the kid on the phone said the sauce wasn't specified for the pappardelle on the ticket. Ok then, then the kitchen should ask, "what sauce?" My husband was there sitting at the bar having a beer; waiting for the food. In all fairness, when I called and asked, they said my husband could go back to get the right pasta. But, he was frustrated and I was starving since I hadn't eaten in 28 hrs. I tried to suck it up and eat it, but it was cold and gross. A compliment to Nick's is that all I wanted after not eating for 28 hours was the pappardelle with gorgonzola sauce cuz it's so yummy! Moral to the story: SEVERAL times our orders have been messed up by counter staff; it seems the ticket the kitchen gets is wrong or incomplete. They need more staff in there. The cooks also need to communicate and clarify. If there is no sauce specified on a ticket, they should ask; not assume. If this was the first, second or even third time this happened, I wouldn't be writing this. And, btw, a few times ago I did nicely talk to one of the managers and she was very apologetic about one of their very rude and incompetent former employees. I hope management sees this because the waiters are awesome and many of their dishes are great. But making mistake after mistake after mistake is a kitchen/communication/training/ management issue.

As far as the quality of the food and the price goes, this place is definitely underrated. I checked them out because I got one of those jumbo-size mailers full of coupons and I've been on the hunt for a good pizza spot in Costa Mesa. Unfortunately, the delivery driver ignored my request to knock so they could and me the food and instead they tossed everything on the porch. The pizza wasn't even bagged up, so that was... gross. But the pasta was delicious and I'd probably just order pickup if I feel like trying them again.

First time here, ordered a veggie pie and a cheese pie for my kid. Pizza was very good, calamari was okay. Gave 3 stars due to service. I had to ask for a waiter, and though the restaurant was not so busy our server did not stop by to check up on us not once, disappointed with the service.

Was ok— nothing special. Salad was a bit warm and the meatballs were tasteless. Pizza looked good so maybe I’ll try

My wife and I decided to try Nick's Pizza in Costa Mesa one more time.... Let me go back a year or so first. we used to enjoy the food at Nick's as they had the best Pizza and salad in Costa Mesa. Then a year or so back the food took a dive, on several occasions the pizza dough was raw in the center, soggy and toppings just thrown on without care. So going back to this last Friday, we decided to eat in at Nick's and ordered Nick's Special and a salad. WOW! It was so, so good. The pizza and salad was just as good or better then it ever was. We asked our waitress if they made a change in the kitchen? The answer surprised us.. The waitress said, no but there is a new manager and I am her. We could not say enough complements. What a difference one person can make. Thank you, Thank You, Thank You! Nick'sPizza is back on top.

Pizza was dry and taste bland. Not enough sauce. Chicken portobello was disappointing. The service was good but not enough to make me come back.

Out of this world! That's what I would say to anyone who asked me to describe my meal at Nick's! My family has been dining here off and on for several years, we don't live close by so we eat here occasionally. I would have to say the food is what keeps us coming back. So for starters we choose this place for dinner last night because it's usually not crowded or to loud, we were meeting my daughter's new boyfriend. We arrived at 6:45 and the place was packed! We were given an approximate wait time of 1 hour! Well we chose to wait and it was well worth it. Once we were seated the staff was extremely helpful. They served us drinks right away offered us appetizers and were on point the entire time! No need to ask for refills on drinks, breadsticks or any else the waiter was extremely attentive. One the food arrived although we were already stuffed it had to be tasted. Well we were in heaven! The food was Amazing. Although stuffed already we ate a little and brought the rest home. The wait staff again packed the leftovers extremely well and helped us celebrate our daughters boyfriends birthday! Now that was the Cherry on the cake! We will definitely drive out to Costa Mesa more often for more of their delicious Italian food!

Read the reviews of others saying how great the pizza is and the bread is very good but that is basically all the pizza I got was, just bread. I ordered pepperoni and black olive and the pizza I got was 95% or more just bread. Basically no tomato sauce of which I have even asked about when I ordered and was assured it had plenty of sauce....actually next to none. And toppings were next to none on pizza. If they put some sauce on the pizza and a normal amount of toppings like other restaurants, the pizza would be good. For the price they charge for pizza they really should be generous with toppings instead of so stingy that some pieces may have one sliver of olive or one peperoni. :( More like an open faced grilled cheese sandwich. Doubtful I would order again and just bread.

Walked in to place a “to go order”. Ordered a cheese ravioli with marinara. Had previously been there with my daughter and ravioli was OK. Anyway when I opened the order later it was some other kind of ravioli. Was the worst thing I ever tasted. I threw it away. I called twice and there was no manager or owner available to speak with. $17. for this miserable food, was definitely overcharged and received wrong order. I expect a refund or will simply dispute.
