Came here with my boyfriend after the Japanese festival disappointed with the festival, but Danna, our server made this a great dining experience for us. She was very friendly and sweet and super helpful with all of our requests. The food was delicious for an AYCE sushi restaurant.

walked in on a saturday night as a party of 4 and were seated immediately. the place wasn't too busy when we came in around 9pm +has an aycd sake and beer option +delicious yellowtail +menu includes carpaccio -only select items were good, rest were mediocre -servers missed several of our orders -spicy tuna crispy rice was the most disappointing- rice was rock hard and tuna was flavorless ~Service: nothing too special ~Cost: ~$38.99 for ayce sushi + $18.99 for aycd beer and sake ~Parking: free parking in structure nearby

The roll I got here was super tasty and fresh! And our waitress was also so sweet :). I had the angry tail roll during their happy hour and it was $15! Pretty reasonable price compared to other places that have rolls close to $20 or over, but I will say the roll was pretty tiny. Still really tasty and had the perfect kick! I also tried their chicken teriyaki bowl which was also good; especially with the generous amounts of teriyaki sauce for the rice to soak up. We went for a friend's birthday and they offered a free ice cream scoop (vanilla or matcha) with a candle! Restaurant was clean with purplish/blue ambient lighting. Some of the booths were very worn down and the restaurant runs on the colder side. If I'm back in the area I definitely want to try out their all-you-can-eat menu!

Service was decent, but food was not what I expected. The fish quality was really bad, even for an AYCE restaurant. The salmon was subpar, the bluefin tuna is not actually bluefin tuna. It is packaged dyed tuna. The albacore was the worst I've ever tried. The only thing that tasted decent was the yellowtail. Even the miso soup was too salty. I will say that the garlic spicy edamame was decent, it was the only thing that was okay.

I don't understand. If you don't leave half of the plate, you won't take up the money for the leftover food, and suddenly you can't leave some rice... I endured the fishy food and ate it. It opens at 4 o'clock, but I went at 5:30, but I fainted after using the bathroom.... The floor is really sticky and there is no tissue... The smell is the worst... I'm worried about hygiene...

Lily was amazing and beyond helpful! Love the ambiance of this place and the food is great. Get the all you can eat sushi, it's worth it! been here a couple of times, and def coming back! :)

One star for the good service and one star for the nice presentation. Everything else was not satisfactory. The ayce sushi items tasted like they've been sitting around all day and not fresh at all. Every dish we ordered was lacking in flavor except for the garlic chili edamame which was only an appetizer. I believe they focused too much on the presentation by using fancy dishes/boards to serve the sushi that they forgot all about the food taste. I will probably not come back.

My girls and I usually come here for girls night. Food is delicious and service is fast. But went here tonight with family and it's definitely changed. We waited 30 mins and not even our appetizers came out. We had to reach out to staff, otherwise who knows how long more. Then we received our food and our usual fav item was horrible. The spicy fried rice tasted old and chewy. It was so hard that when I called the waitress over, it would make a noise when i tapped it. Sadly, We couldn't even finish it. They did bring the kids ice cream which was nice. But I think this was our last time here.
Come to Ojai sushi bar great service. Gustavo was so nice and personable talking with us at the sushi bar! Everything is delicious, the ambiance is awesome!!!

MUST READ HONEST REVIEW! Hi everyone, so I gave this place 2 stars for a couple reasons. The first reason was that the service kept making order MISTAKES despite us being one of 2 customers there. If it was busy, I would've chalked up the mistakes as minor. However, the server got our drink order wrong, sushi order wrong, and even forgot one of our ordered items. The second reason is the quality of the food. So in general, most AYCE sushi restaurants freeze their sushi to store it, which usually lessens the taste quality. However the PREMIUM bluefin toro sushi, which was $6 per piece, was also frozen. If I'm paying $6 for one piece of sushi, I would expect it to be higher quality than the regular roles or sushi. ALSO, their regular bluefin tuna is FAKE and is in fact just regular tuna sushi. The third reason is pricing. Most AYCE sushi restaurants with similar quality to that of OJI are around $34/person. However this place costs $38/person NOT INCLUDING the extra charges for the premium sushi. The only redeeming factor for this restaurant was the nice ambiance and that they have cheap draft Sapporo.

NOT ACTUALLY 5 STAR. READ: This place is not good at all. First of all, they intentionally stack up the rice in the sushi. Good ayce sushi has good rice to fish ratio. This place does not. We got scammed which was the most annoying, their "ayce bluefin" tuna was just regular frozen tuna. Third, they kept messing up our order even though it wasn't busy -- there were only 2 other tables among the 20 empty ones. There are plenty of other good ayce sushi places that this place does not compare to. As someone who worked at a good ayce sushi place, the people who wrote good reviews CLEARLY do not have any taste. A waste of such nice ambiance.

Oji Sushi & Bar experience is so lively and friendly. :) The service is out of this world. The server Janny is so pleasant to speak to and she makes you feel at home. Also the service she provides is so friendly and warm helping. The place to relax and enjoy the excellent sushi and environment. :)
