Great spot for gathering with girlfriends for a birthday brunch. Food was great. Outdoor patio spacious and has heaters.

We came here for lunch and, although there were several empty tables, our waitress repeatedly interrupted us and urged us to finish up and leave as soon as we were done eating, even though we were still chatting. It made the experience feel rushed and a bit uncomfortable. We would have appreciated being allowed to enjoy our time, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy. That said, the food was very good and the atmosphere was pleasant, so it's a nice spot if you don't mind a quicker pace.

This was our first time dining at Outpost Kitchen and it was a beautiful experience. First of all it's a very inviting venue, cozy but open. Secondly our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Third, the food was the perfect temperature and fresh and delicious. I'm kinda of a coffee snob, I don't have it very often so when I do I like it perfect. My Cortado was so on point and served in such a cute little glass. Will be returning with our families.

Food was fantastic but unfortunately the service was terrible. We asked to be moved because of the seats being in the sun. Then we had to move due to dogs in the patio and owners letting them run wild. We had to complain to the manager afterward. Once we moved the second time our waitress never came back to check on us. Won't be going back.

I was ignored for 45 minutes. Wait staff said only one kind of toast was available but then my dining companion was served the kind of toast I wanted. When I asked for it the assistant tried to take my whole plate away and I had to ask that he simply come with the new original toast. He never came I even asked someone else for it it never came. Wait staff tried to take my friends plate before she was finished. I had my parking validated it didn't work I had to walk back to the restaurant to have it re validated. A 10:30am breakfast took 2 hours! Horrid service. Attitude from staff is like you are bothering them.

It was an okay experience overall. The food was good, but the servers didn't seem very happy or welcoming, which affected the vibe a bit. We ordered a burrata toast ($18) to share, a small sausage skillet ($24), and a breakfast burrito ($18). We also had one small green juice ($10) — served in a very skinny glass mostly filled with ice — and a matcha latte ($6.50) with an extra $2.50 charge for alternative milk and honey. With tax, the total came to about $85, and after tips, it was nearly $100. The food tasted good — I especially liked the green pesto spread on the burrata toast and the thin wrap for the breakfast burrito. The skillet was just okay: small and quite standard, not really worth $24. The drinks, however, were disappointing for the price. The green juice was watered down, and the matcha wasn't anything special. If they're going to charge that much, the drinks should really stand out. I understand the restaurant's location near South Coast Plaza probably means high rent, but given the prices and overall experience, it's not a place I'd visit regularly.

If your looking for a spot to have lunch before a matinee at SCR this is a great choice. Do give yourself plenty of time as the service is slow. Menu choices are few but the food is good. Have a beer or a coffee to sip while you wait.

PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES BEWARE!!!!!!!
Absolutely horrible experience. This business shows a complete disregard for people with allergies. While they make an effort to label vegetarian and gluten-free options, there is zero information provided about nuts on the menu — which is unacceptable considering how severe nut allergies can be.

I ordered the avocado toast assuming it was safe, only to find out after eating it that it contained pine nuts. This nearly sent me into anaphylactic shock. When I asked an employee beforehand if it had nuts, they said no. I had to insist they check with a manager, and only then did they confirm it did.

To make matters worse, the manager showed no real concern about what happened. Instead of apologizing or acknowledging the severity of the situation, they actually said, “The toast is very delicious — it’s a shame you can’t eat it.” That kind of response is not only insensitive, it’s downright insulting after such a frightening experience.

This lack of transparency and training could easily cost someone their life. If you have any food allergies, stay far away from this place.

I visited this restaurant last Saturday for brunch with a friend and had an unexpectedly uncomfortable experience with our waitress. Right from the start, she offered mimosas despite me being visibly pregnant, and after we politely declined, she kept asking intrusive questions about my pregnancy, including my due date and even the zodiac sign of my baby. She also repeatedly asked for my own birthdate, which felt totally inappropriate and irrelevant to our meal.

When we asked for the check, she asked us again if we wanted mimosas, making the situation even more awkward. Throughout our visit, she shared personal stories about her and her mother, stories we didn’t ask to hear and frankly weren’t interested in, as we were trying to enjoy a relaxing brunch.

Finally, when we were leaving, she pointed at my belly and said “Good luck” and then added “because you’ll need it.” This felt like a very strange and unnecessary comment, unprofessional and unsettling, especially for a customer who’s already been made to feel uncomfortable by repeated personal questions.

I understand that some servers like to be friendly, but this was way beyond normal conversation. I hope the management can remind their staff to respect guests’ boundaries and avoid overly personal remarks. We left a 20% tip because it was automatically selected, but this experience really wasn’t pleasant.

The food was good though.
