I've been wanting to check out Semi Tropic for a while! We came on a Friday night which meant difficult to find parking in their tiny lot, but no worries. We made it in. :) We ordered two glasses of their "disco wine" which the server described as their nicer wine. The price on the menu was listed as market price .... We didn't ask details, just paid. The total for two glasses came out to $45.99!!!! I later saw that included a 20% gratuity for pouring wine that we weren't informed of before ordering sadly :/ and tax. We enjoyed the wine. Loved the ambiance -- it felt like a coffee shop. Very relaxing atmosphere. When we finished our wine, we went into their bottle shop. What did we see but the "disco wine" we had ordered. The whole bottle for $36!!!! Less than what we paid for two glasses. We enjoyed Semi Tropic, but if we return we'll likely just buy a bottle to go since the by the glass prices are gauged so intensely

A great spot here in Costa Mesa! They apparently host quite a few pop-up restaurants, which I attended today - Mama Dang's. It's a smaller spot with a small parking lot in the back. I found that a bit stressful, so I went for the larger lot across the street. There's a large dining room inside that's reminiscent of a coffee shop, and a good amount of tables outside. There's live music too, which is a great touch! For wines, I tried both the Pinot Noir, and their non-alcoholic black pepper soda, which were excellent choices for after a day at work.

This is by far my favorite wine bar! It is so cozy and cute with the best vibes, music, wine and employees! They have a great selection of natural wines and snacks, as well as a little store attached to buy a bottle to take home. I always look forward to coming back!

Small and quaint place that has a wonderful staff and selection of wines. The service was fantastic. I usually will not give 5 stars for a mandatory service charge. I honestly like tipping more if service is good (and we did), and always find the mandatory fee strange and some places like to hide it (they did not). Either raise prices and pay a living wage, or follow the state tipping wage and let us tip your fantastic staff! I know it’s a tough choice to make and I am sure you all made yours with calculated minds. Anyway, cute place either way!Recommend the cheese board for sure, and this is a cool place for a date. Parking in back (limited) makes it easily accessible. It is pricey but nothing shocking.

Good vibes love the pop up restaurants they have, it's a quite lowkey ambiance, indoor outdoor amazing wine choices friendly service and knowledgeable on wines of the day. Got the sampler and loved that you get it one at a time.

I checked out semi tropic when I went to Lucky Nick's Pizza pop up and loved it! The inside is so cozy and cute. I got there around 6 and was able to find a table for my friend and I. The staff was also really nice and overall great customer service. They recommend great wines and we got a glass to go with our pizza. Definitely recommend checking it out. Parking is limited and I parked on the street.

Fun and casual. Recommend for girls night out to just chit chat. Wine was chefs kiss. Walk up service.

Kind servers, great ambience, lovely set up. However the music is reeeeally loud. Hard to have a conversation that isn't interrupted with "what was that?" while leaning in. Other than that, I can't complain and I'll definitely return here. Maybe sit outside next time.

We came in to try some wine, and were seated quickly with our group of 4. There are a few tables inside for small groups. The staff was friendly and chill. It was our first time in, so they explained how you can order by the glass, or they have a wine shop to purchase bottles. We tried a bottle from Spain, and we all enjoyed it. Laid back afternoon drinks which was the perfect vibe.

it was my first time visiting this place and i was really impressed. they had live jazz music outside and a chef that offered a different menu from their regular menu which was still there as well. the wine was really smooth and had a floral hint to it. the small foods complimented well with it too. definitely worth checking out!

Absolutely love semi tropics, the wine is delicious and their cheese boards are *chef's kiss* I brought my walk club here and the girls absolutely LOVED it. Everyone had been sharing that they had been wanting to try it for a long time so they were so excited we had a meet up here. The staff are so kind and the service was great! We were all served in a timely manner despite the large number of girls that came! Vibes were great, food was great! Can't recommend this spot enough!

This place is such a gem!! The shining staff is so great and they always help me pick a wine I will like. Ambience is delightful and jazz night is a must. I would give a million more stars if I could- and you know what???! I will try

I have been here 4-5 times by now and I don't know why I kept going back. After the last time I definitely will not be coming back. I have a hard time justifying the mediocre service/ lack of clarity on how to order a bottle/ and below average wine for the prices you are paying. Last time I was there we wanted to get a bottle so we were told we had to go to the bottle shop where there was a wine tasting going on so we had to wait for her to stop explaining that to then get her attention to help us pick out a bottle since we are not familiar with most of the bottles in there. Then after we had the bottle we then had to get back in line in the main room to pay for it because we were told we couldn't pay for it in the bottle shop. Also the girl at the main cashier that was working was letting the people in front of us try 3 different wines each before they committed to a glass. It was a LONG process just to get a bottle of wine. Surely these inefficiencies could be worked out if they had proper waiters or had more people working at the cashier. Only saving grace was the pop up food vendor that was going on that night. Overall, not worth the hype or price.
