Pretty lackluster brunch spot. We got an omelette with hashbrowns and French toast with bacon/potatoes. The hash was a soggy, tasteless mess and the omelette was pretty boring. The French toast was underwhelming too. The coffee was definitely really burnt and old too, so I sent that back. Unsure if we would return, as we only came here because another popular brunch spot down the street was too busy. I think this place relies more on its "home town" decorations on the wall to garner neighborhood support instead of actually having good food. For the price, it's not worth it in our opinion. $40 for a boring breakfast wasn't worth it.

Awesome spot. If I could give more stars. Fluffy delicious pancakes. Absolutely look no further for great breakfast spot.
Tried something new with my daughter. Thought it would be great since it was crowded.
She had tortilla soup, which was delicious. she also had the hot meatloaf With gravy on a bread. I’m not sure if it was actually meatloaf because it looked like chicken fried steak with a heavy breading and a gravy that was clearly just flour and water. It was gross! I had a roast beef sandwich and a salad with vinaigrette. I think It was oil with two drops of vinegar. Roast beef was very dry with some stringy fat and I think the bread was sitting by the sink because the bottom of it was very wet and soggy with no flavor leading me to think it was sitting near the sink. The Au Jus scares me to think what was in it or how it was made. It was so bland. My daughter ended up with diarrhea within an hour of eating , and my stomach wasn’t feeling well either. I don’t usually do reviews, but I think this was called for.

I had the Stuffed French Toast with a side of bacon and sausage. ??????⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Wonderful atmosphere with some classic rock and 90s/2000s country playing. If I ever find myself back in Costa Mesa around breakfast time, I'll certainly be back!
Kid-friendliness: There's nothing making it not-kid-friendly... ??♂️ I wouldn't sweat bringing my toddler nieces and nephews here.
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair entry from the parking lot into the sidewalk, into the front door, and no steps up or down inside.

I’ve been coming here for years. It’s local, family owned, and affordable breakfast, brunch and lunch spot depending on what sounds good. I come for the people the most. They treat everyone with love and will welcome you by name when you return. They will also make you what you want if they have the ingredients (within reason).
Vegetarian options: Easy to customize anything on the menu and my vegetarian friend comes all the time.
Dietary restrictions: They can customize the meals and ingredients.
Parking: If the from is full, go to the park or next to the police station in the back.
Kid-friendliness: Very family friendly. Been bringing our sons here for years
Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access.

I got the eggs benedict and my boyfriend got the chilaquiles. The eggs benedict was inedible in my opinion. I took one bite and then couldnt even force myself to finish the rest. The sauce was so sour and clearly came from a packet. The staff was nice but I was disappointed since the waitress clearly saw I had taken one bite out of my food but proceeded to charge us the full bill without even asking what was wrong with it. It was also $17.50 for my plate which is insanely expensive for the quality received. My boyfriend’s meal had no flavor and he basically just ate some of the beans and rice. We paid and left but will not be returning.
I recently enjoyed an exceptional breakfast at Side Street Cafe, and it truly set the tone for a wonderful day. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a standout choice for breakfast. We can't wait to return and try more of their amazing offerings!

Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with their food. Very bland, no flavor, their gravy was horrible could not eat it. Their are a lot of better restaurants to choose from, I suggest going elsewhere.
Very dissapointing.
