I had a very disappointing experience at The Huddle in Costa Mesa. I was asked to show ID, and when I presented my valid U.S. Permanent Resident (Green) Card, they refused to accept it. This is a government-issued form of identification, and there was no clear explanation for why it was rejected.
It felt discriminatory and frankly unprofessional. If staff are going to turn people away for presenting a legal ID, they should be better trained and informed about what qualifies as valid identification in the United States. I won’t be returning, and I hope they update their policy and educate their team to avoid treating others the same way.

whoever you have working the “door” is rude as ever.. he clearly needs a promotion for doing the MOST. wouldn’t take my ID even tho it wasn’t expired, was rude to my whole group of friends and then tried to deny them entry after coming out to look for me. foul.. he loves being a rude DOORMAN, you need to teach your staff some manners or continue to lose out on money. no vibes at all, go somewhere else.

After having dinner at Water Grill we didn’t want to end the night so we decided to try out the huddle and play some pool. The tables were taken but didn’t stop the drinks from being made so we decided just to hang out and enjoy ourselves. At least we thought. Things quickly took a turn. Assuming the locals were occupying the bar our buddy tried ordering our drinks but quickly found that wasn’t going to be easy. He was moved and pushed until he finally got the drinks. As he sat down one of the couples started to yell across the way some profanity towards us. The bartender with the slicked back hair came from the back and told us we were causing a scene and we aren’t kicked out but it was best we left. This is also after the fact he witnessed everything and agreed the couple were indeed the instigators but some how we were the problem. If you are of color avoid this place at all cost.

Bad experience with a patron. Gave me CRAP about my outfit. I was wearing red flannel and a brown vest and a Cap. He asked why I was wearing that outfit and that I should leave or not wear that attire. My friend tryed to avoid him but he was wasted and kept on going. We asked what he wanted me to wear instead and he said not that. He said my friend looked normal in his brown leather jaled and pullover. But he was not happy with my outfit. Which I just randomly picked out to hide my bear belly. Lol He then asked why am I wearing that and why did I vote for him. (I still did not know what he was talking about) I said I Im not into politics leave us alone. I'm just wearing clothes. He said No, You know what your doing. I said Yes, Im wearing clothes. So he left. Then 20 mins later a girl (Caucasian) comes in and talks to me and my buddy for like 20 minutes. Then my buddy leaves to the restroom and I ask her what is wrong with my outfit. Some guy was being madly racist, and is wrong on me. She said, was he wearing a beanie I said yes. Well he’s Not wrong. She said I’m like what is wrong with you guys I’m just wearing clothes. She said well you shouldn’t be wearing that vest. Cause you’re not a hunter. If you were a hunter the vest would be dirty and your vest is even Hurley brand. You should not wear that and me, and my friend were like OK, so what should I wear? Mexican clothes. She said it’s just different. You wearing that. I’m like I’m just wearing clothes. I’m so confused.

I was hoping to play pool & have a fun night with my American friend while visiting from Australia on Wednesday night. Knowing that a digital drivers licence is not accepted as it is in Australia, I made sure I had hard copy of my Australian drivers licence. We were denied entry & told I would have to show passport. Who carries a valuable document like a passport with them on a night out?! I have been to the Huddle many times & it’s never been a problem. I’ve also been to many other bars in Costa Mesa & have never been denied entry. My friend & I took our business to a bar down the road where we didn’t get asked for ID at all…possibly due to being in late 50’s & very much over the legal drinking age. I’ve had a lot of fun nights at the Huddle over the last 10 years but the attitude of your security is disappointing & no we were not intoxicated
Bartender (think also the GM) was extremely on edge and aggressive. Yelled at people for no reason especially girls. Not particularly safe.

Coworkers and I came to this bar after a late night shift while traveling in from Texas. To be fair we came at 1:10am and it closed at 2am. So I sort of understand the hostile greeting from the bartender and the bouncer, but last call at 1:25 and then kicking us out of the bar at 1:40 when we have full beers in our hands is ridiculous. If you close at 1:40 so you can clean up the bar and go home at 2am then advertise 1:40am as your closing time not 2am. Also worst customer service imaginable, it’s like they don’t want to be in business
