Me and my son found this local gem and it did not disappoint. Great burger and service. My son even said he was converted from veganism. Now we can enjoy meat together. Thanks umami burger.

Umami burger is like Oh mommy!!!!! I want more burger... and wow ;) lol. There are no words! Burgers done right. Crispy bun, juicy patty with all the toppings.... Not much else to say. You have to try to understand what I'm saying

Service I highly recommend getting takeout or delivery from here, but not to dine inside. A couple years ago my husband and I would meet friends here on Friday nights and it had a fun eclectic vibe with beer on tap. However, when we tried this place a week ago, it lost its former glory with the interior. The walls are now painted white and they are running at least two additional restaurant businesses alongside Umami. The problem is the staff is more concentrated on the to-go orders because frankly there are many more to-go orders than dine-in orders. Obviously I cannot be too hard on them because it's still COVID time, it is hard for restaurants and they need to do what they can to continue to operate. Thankfully, the quality has not been lost on the food. Food I cannot speak for the other businesses that run out of this establishment, but Umami tastes as great today as it did a couple years ago. The burgers always come out great and look like how they do in the menu pictures. I usually order the impossible burgers because they taste very similar to getting red meat here. Parking There is limited parking spots in front of Umami and a lot behind the building. Parking is normally busy and it's hard to find a spot.

First time trying Umami Burger after hearing all the hype! This location is well hidden within the Camp/Lab in Costa Mesa. They have a tablet ordering system that was pretty fast/convenient. Indoor seating only unfortunately but they have picnic areas throughout the grounds. I got the standard Umami burger (always a must when trying a new burger place--get it plain!) and after the first bite I was VERY impressed! Super juicy. Great flavor. Bun was fresh. Overall it made me want to try more of their many other choices! The fries were okay and drink selection was not what you expect for a burger joint. Pricing is on the heavier side too. I did like that you got to pick between several sauces on the side for free. Overall I'm stoked I finally tried this place and can't wait to go back!

This entire chain is not worth more than 1 star. Starting with their buns; cold, tasteless glob of doe. As for 'hearty'? I left looking for the next restaurant. So I complained & was given a gift card for another burger. I went from LA to Irvine Spectrum. Same issue. Two tablespoon size of the vegan burger, tasteless and eaten in 3 bites. I'm only 97 #'s so u'd think I would be full? Could not even eat the bun. No spice. Glad I didn't pay for that one. I'd say to bring ur own dressing, or spices, order three, stack them, remove the inner buns and you might feel satisfied!!!!

Came here after a friend introduced us to umami, and when we came to this location for dinner the staff was rude, telling us they were closed when we had come into their restaurant and didn't give us any information about when they would open. Just told us to leave. Sad about it since we don't visit SoCal often.

Every time I come to Umami Burger, I've always had a good experience! My most recent meal there was great! I had fast service from the server and my order was in promptly! The server was always checking up on me to see how I was doing and if I was enjoying my meal. I ordered the Ktown Burger and the onion rings on my most recent stop here and wow was it good! The onion rings were nicely battered and crispy, and the jalapeno ranch sauce complimented them perfectly! The Ktown burger was delicious with the patty being seasoned perfectly and the bun nicely toasted and soft! The slaw in addition to the porkbelly marinated in gochujang sauce worked wonders in combination with the patty! Definitely one of my favorite burgers on the menu! They also now have impossible burgers, so if you are vegetarian, you can now enjoy an umami burger yourself! Their shakes here are also pretty good and they can be boozed up if you so desire. I recommend coming here if you are craving a more gourmet burger than your traditional fast food burger or sit-down restaurant as they offer unique combinations here that you don't see anywhere else! Parking is also not too difficult to find as it's shared with the rest of the Camp but it does get more crowded later in the day!

Friendly and attentive servers and great tasting food. We love coming for the truffle burger and this time we ordered the mac & cheese too (it was barely warm when served but still tasted great). The truffle ketchup is also tasty with the fries as well.

First time trying Umami burger and it wasn't bad. Not exceptional but still pretty good. Classic impossible burger: delicious and tasted almost like beef Truffle impossible burger: lots of truffle flavor! Delicious. Sweet potato fries: Not too greasy and well seasoned Chicken tenders: very hard and kind of dry. Might've been fried too long This one's located at the Lab and the parking lot is very busy on Saturday nights. Beware.

Very disappointed with my experience at this particular umami burger. I've been to other umami burgers in So Cal and this is by far the worst! The thin fries are not thin, the truffle burger was low quality. The bun was store bought from Ralph's. The atmosphere is dirty. If umami burger has changed at all of there locations to this low level then I will never be eating here again. I miss the original umami burger!

Delicious classic burger and sweet potato fries. Friendly service by Cindy too. We will be back!

This is not a Umami Burger I know from before. Low quality food. Worse then fast food place. The worse of the worse. Taste was disgusting. Meat over cooked. Some strange cheese sauce was smothered all over And did not have any truffle taste what so ever. Truffle fries also did not have any truffle flavor or taste or smell and were soggy. My husband ordered Sunny side with an egg on top which was over cooked and super dry. I would not recommend umami burger to anyone and will never return.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Great food and service, but a little pricey for the portions. We were at nearby Gunwhale Ales and wanted some food, and this place was recommended by the staff. We called to place our order and verify that they'd deliver, and luckily they were able to, since they weren't too busy at that moment. We just got a couple of the Umami Classic Burgers with Impossible patties, along with an order of onion rings. The order arrived in speedy fashion and everything tasted fresh and delicious! It's been years since I've eaten an Umami Burger, but they were as good as I remembered (maybe better, since now you can get plant-based patties). It was a bit spendy for 2 burgers and a side, but hey, quality food + delivery. Would certainly consider them again when next in the area.

I ordered an umami burger and received a regular burger (tomato, lettuce, cheese, pickles, McDonald's style) instead. I was upset about the mix up until I double checked the menu and found out that they changed A LOT and removed so many iconic items. I'm devastated. Umami used to be a place for solid (and UNIQUE!!) burgers and yummy fries. Now, they got rid of their iconic Umami burger (roasted tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms, Parmesan crisp, etc) and replaced it with a "classic" burger. WTF. If I wanted a basic a*** pedestrian burger I would go to McDonald's or In n Out. WHY DID YOU DO THIS, UMAMI?!?! Who comes here to order a classic, regular a** burger? What is this, the Midwest? Are we in hillbillyville? This is The Camp. Where is the culture, the vibes? Please put the old Umami burger back on the menu and stop catering to simple boring people who have juvenile taste buds. I'm so upset. With so many other competitors that have burgers that are actually unique and fun and interesting, I will not be back. So disappointed.

Yum! Umami Burger is always one of those places I come back to year after year when I want a gourmet burger I can't get anywhere else. I usually order the truffle burger. It's sooo rich and decadent for a small burger and feels like the right size. The bun is pillowy soft, the meat perfectly salty and seasoned. My mom got the regular umami burger and we also got fries (not pictured) with the truffle ketchup. We came on a Friday right at opening so there was no wait and we seated and served immediately. Parking was easy to find although I imagine it gets worse throughout the day since it's a small lot.
