I'm so sad that I'm having to give this place a one star review. I've been a loyal customer since April 2018, I have ordered for my own personal events and non personal events. I have recommended them more times than I can count and I know that those I've recommended have definitely purchased. I purchased a "sale" they had in late December 2021. Upon purchasing it, it was for a Celebration of Life Event in February 2022, I put notes on the order asking for the cupcakes they offer to be switched out and evenly distributed amongst the other desserts. The event was then cancelled a few weeks before due to a surge in Covid numbers. I informed the company of that and left the event date as May/June since that was the new event date. When family members couldn't decide on having the event during a serge of covid numbers going back up (the celebration of life was for a covid patient that passed), I informed the company in person and asked to change it one last time to a pick up date of September 7th with a theme of "Mr. ONEderful" for an event in Las Vegas. They were once again, okay with doing that and never mentioned a fee. A month before my event, I asked if I could change JUST the theme one last time, apologized and even told them that I'd understand if they said no. Changed my theme one final time to "Rookie of the Year". Along with changing my theme one last time, I paid the $45 fee they stated they needed to charge me because of the amounts of times I changed my order and it "going passed the time of use". I was fine with all of this. I appreciated every change they made for me, I paid the fee, what they now call "the remaining package amount", and I was super hopeful because every event before had been amazing. I sent my aunt to pick up my order because I now live in Vegas and they were driving the desserts down for my event. She called me once home, 10-15 minutes. I immediately tried calling the store to inform them that I didn't want/need cupcakes (as stated on my order) but their phone line was never picked up. I tried on and off throughout the day before my family made the commute to Vegas with no one still answering. I then resorted to sending an email with everything above and their response was "there is nothing we can do". They claim they changed their number 1-2 weeks after my pick up date due to phone connectivity issues but yet it's still my fault that I couldn't get through? Not only did they get the contents of the order wrong, their designs weren't up to their usual standard. Extremely small strawberries for half of them, minimal details compared to before. We've now gone back and forth on email. What I'm more upset about is this: 1. I shouldn't be punished for their choice of "going against their protocol" of the changing my event. The ONLY time they made a big deal was on the last change when they charged me the fee. In my order receipts it never stated a "use by date" or "expires on" or even a warning of the $45 difference being charged in the case of any changes. I paid the fee but my order was incorrect. 2. I shouldn't be punished for them having a non working number or changing their number whenever that happened, but then not updating it on ALL platforms. Which I now see is a constant issue people have with them. They don't update their hours or number on platforms but expect you to follow "protocol". They don't even follow their own protocol. 3. Just because they've chosen to sell their business doesn't mean you should mistreat loyal and recommending customers. Outcome was: she was done commenting further regarding this situation and felt that she had no blame in this other than "allowing the changes". I will NEVER buy from or recommend any of their businesses. If you're clearly overwhelmed and trying to sell your business, don't take on so many orders. Don't allow the changes. Do not go

Loved the Monogram cake I purchased. Beautifully decorated and the flavor was delicious. The whole family loved it. I found them on Yelp, and it didn't disappoint. Thanks to the Melted Team for such a lovely masterpiece. I Placed the order thru their website, very easy to navigate. I have definitely referred their services to my family and friends.

You want a beautiful custom monogram cake? Look no further. Back story! Me, my brother and sister, we all live in different parts of the country and California. I'm in Louisiana, one sibling in Northern CA and one in Southern CA. We all started planning in February a big surprise party for our mom's 60th birthday. Sometime in May our mom hinted she wanted a monogram cake. Knowing she loves the color purple and florals, we got to researching places that could create her dream cake. I came to Yelp and researched places in Downey since our party was supposed to be there. I fell in love with their monogram cakes and emailed them the details of what we were looking for. They got back to me swiftly. Since I was out of state I was worried that it would get complicated trying to order the cake as I wasn't the one paying, just placing the order. I was worried that it was last minute and not enough time to order a custom cake. However, it was pretty easy and I even ordered 2 dozen chocolate covered strawberries to match the cake. I sent pictures of the colors we were working with and the.even had to email them very late in the game (like a week before the event) to change the shade of purple we were needing because our decor options suddenly changed. Nonetheless they said they would try to match the colors and I super appreciate them for doing so. But the day before the event COVID struck our family and we had to cancel the big event. Knowing that it was too late to cancel we decided to regroup and do something on a smaller scale for our mom in Whittier. We came to pick up the cake and strawberries and my sister and I were blown away by how beautiful the cake and strawberries were. Ernesto helped us and was extremely nice courteous. We explained what happened and he said we could have called them to push the pick up date back which was good to know if we decide to order again in future. But since we weren't sure we could reschedule we just chose to stick with our pick up date. We setup her desserts and cake with the balloons and we were all very happy with the way it all came together. I loved the detailed roses on the strawberries. My mom was so ecstatic over the cake! Completely content and delighted! She was over the moon! The cake stole the show. And not only was it beautiful, it was delicious!!!! I never really enjoy cakes with loads of icing or frosting, but this was perfect. The chocolate ganache was yummy and the cake was so good. Everyone enjoyed it. Thank you to Chocolate Covered Cafe for making such an incredible cake for our mom!

Thank you for the excellent reviews Yelp! I tried this place for my stepdaughter's birthday and I am not disappointed. The service was great, the cupcakes are amazing and the chocolate covered strawberries delicious.

Not to happy! I drove 25 minutes from Southbay to come this this place which I visited once before & thought to treat my employees with cupcakes & strawberries. It's 2:30pm & the sign says temporary hours for Saturday only. I get the COVID situation but please post your new hours on social media so people like me won't have to waste gas & time to come out here. Was just trying to support a small business.

Don't miss out!!! The chocolate covered strawberries are delicious!!! The chocolate is rich and creamy, and the cheesecake filled strawberries are out of this world!! The staff was so kind and allowed me to taste one strawberry before i purchased a half dozen. The staff showed us the beautiful cakes that are made to order. You won't find these cakes anywhere else. Thanks for treating your customers like they matter

Good day, I've come to your store a few times for the chocolate covered strawberries and they're always great! So when I seen you offered a tres leches cake for thanksgiving preorder my wife and I where excited, but unfortunately it wasn't to our usual expectation from your establishment. The cake look wise was lopsided and looked a bit rushed. We also do believe the milk went bad because it tasted a bit rancid. Thank you!

I've got absolutely no complaints! I have loved this place since it first opened! The hot chocolate is so rich and delicious, perfect for a cloudy day! I love the chocolate covered strawberries of course, but my favorite thing would be the chocolate covered pretzel sticks. This is a sacred jewel of Downey, and it must be protected at all costs.

Love this cute place and their strawberry chocolate covered taste fresh.they have cute decorated cupcakes and other stuff. It's a small little area and due to covid they only allow 1 person at a time. When I came it was only a short line and it's during weekends and thats after 12pm. Person at the counter is really nice and friendly. They have catering for special events with different bundles of order. Good for baby shower, Valentine event, birthdays or wedding ideas for your candy cake table decor!

Really recommend this place I got a dozen of chocolate covered strawberries the pricing is great and not only that but all the strawberries were huge really worth it ! And the customer service was great also
