Chris & Pitts BBQ Restaurant

Sunday 06/15/25, at approximately 6pm. I arrived to the restaurant. My kids invited me to eat at my favorite restaurant Chris & Pitts for Father’s Day. It was a party of five,
but man, did we had really a bad experience with the waiter. He had an attitude with no customer service, first waiter to ever forget to bring a check and when he does, he forgot the pen, took us awhile to get out since he just goes in and out. The food was great like always
but if you keep hiring employees with this kind of attitude, I don’t think you’ll have much time to keep the business open especially as your restaurant is already expensive, which I don’t mind that much with inflation nowadays. But to be put up with an attitude and the waiter almost ignoring to us and others, people will start to not come. I remember in the old days, the restaurant was always busy with the waiter actually having customer service, look at you now. Most of the time it’s empty and with that kind of customer service, goodbye.

This place has the best ribs I've ever had in the world. And the baked beans.....oh wow...they are supreme! So delicious!

Just like old times. It's really fun to go to Chris & Pitts foods. Good people and great atmosphere, just like it was 30 years ago.

I grew up on this place and have been eating there for all 55 years of my life. Every time we come back to California, we have to eat here at least once in this trip we ate here twice. Our server Jose in the back room took care of us at our party of seven and just made us feel at home and had a great sense of humor and as always the food is phenomenal. They make their dressings in-house and the blue cheese dressing is the truly best in the world. The ribs are fantastic, the steaks are top-notch, and beans and fries and their garlic bread just top things off. Don’t miss out. Do not sleep on this place because you need to find the best food in Downey and in Southern California, California.

UPDATE REVIEW.. Our visit was better than our last. We got to sit in back of the restaurant which had tables and a TV with the Dodgers game which we enjoyed. Our server was really nice. The food was good and we left happy!

Great service! Very friendly server helpful with my allergies and super clean restrooms.Salad was super fresh.Ribs were a bit small for the price but the waitress was super patient and knowledgeable with my gluten sensitivity so that’s a +++.Really helpful pretty girl (yaddie) parking was easy.Was welcomed a few times on my way to my table, that’s always a good sign. Only complaint is ribs should be bigger for the price spent $97.

Everything on the menu is very good. I will be going back.

Had a large party . Food came out slowly several ppl where served first. The food was cold and not good. Definitely not worth the prices.

Join me as we travel back in time to the tender year of 1987 where the servers are all angry to be there, angry to serve you, and your food will undoubtedly look as if it just came out of a hospital cafeteria.
Now the Ribs…the ribs were absolutely amazing. There is absolutely no doubt about it and yet they were served to us as if to say…”take these and shut up you peasants”
Granted the server never SAID any of these things but you could tell it was implied which to be honest added to the charm of this 80s dining experience. All that was missing was bright pink uniforms and indoor smoking! If you are looking to eat some rootn tootn BBQ at a mediocre place where 90% of the room drove a Ford F150 and a certain point in their life….you’ve found your place.
