It was my first time getting a cake here and I was so disappointed. It was extremely sweet and was not as tasty as I thought it would. I got the pistachio flavor.

It’s been a decade since I last set foot in California, and one of the few places that truly stuck in my memory was Tropicana Bakery. I remembered that breakfast sandwich eggs, cheese, ham simple but unforgettable. So when I landed back in town today for business, I made Tropicana my first stop. And let me tell you, it was like stepping into a time capsule of flavor.

That same sandwich? Still phenomenal. The eggs were fluffy, the cheese perfectly melted, and the ham had that savory kick that made me pause mid-bite and smile. It tasted exactly like it did ten years ago no shortcuts, no compromises. Just quality, consistency, and care.

Tropicana isn’t just a bakery. It’s a memory keeper. A place that proves some things really do stand the test of time. If you’re anywhere near Downey and want a bite of something special, this is it.

Service is awful, but good is great. Same waiters, same service. Is so hard to get your order,.and when they finally take it, they take for ever to bring it. There are not refills on drinks just to give you a heads up. Another waiter won't help the other. They ignore you if you call them or ask them for something. On the other side the ladies.on the pantry side are amazing. They promptly approach you to help, one after another. Love that. My main reason I dont come so often is because I would like to enjoy my meal with a good service and the dinning area simply don't care. Food is great,.the kitchen does an amazing job. This place need better waiters and waitress and it could become perfect

The restaurant is busy but the food is delicious. Cuban pastries are yummy.

Came here to pick up a cake. Have had sandwiches from here in the past. Cake was a little sweet but was fine, sandwich was good. Would definitely try other food options in the future
