So happy Coco and Ian are bringing their amazing food to an already great space. The appetizers and specialty cocktails we had were all amazing!
Ordered the Sea Bass. Bad choice! Tasted and looked more like trout. Unless you're with a group and not just a couple, don't expect great or even good service. We were actually rushed out after we finished our meal.

I attended a retirement celebration. Entering the restaurant it appeared clean and inviting. There is a long bar that runs along side one wall and the decor reminds me of a rustic "long time ago" era that is calm and nostalgic . The workers were friendly and helpful. I spent my time in the banquet room which was a great atmosphere among the wine barrels and decor. The wine was delicious!

Went Thursday night with friends, great place from atmosphere to food and staff. Reese Thompson was playing guitar and singing, although unlike some other places that have live music he was not so loud that we couldn't visit and we really enjoyed his music.
Parking: Lots of parking and very easy for handicap people to get in

I was staying in Chico and really looking for a great steak. So I decided to make a short drive.
The mussels are phenomenal. I wanted to take the sauce home, it was so good. The lamb lollipops and ribeye were spot on. Exceptional flavor. Great decor and friendly staff, definitely a gem

Our waitress wasn't rude, but also not friendly. We ordered out steaks medium, and they came raw - cold to the touch on the inside - vegetables were undercooked, and potatoes were bland. We asked for the steak to be cooked more, and the waitress and manager both agreed the doneness was unacceptable. They were both very nice about it. We were told one of our drinks would be compted because of the undercooked meat. When the bill came, we were charged for everything. We questioned this, and she took the bill back to fix it but did not remove one of the drinks. She just rearranged the order of the items on the ticket. We paid and left. Not worth the drive from Chico for the food, service, and price.

Food was great, butter board was superb (a bit much for 2), shrimp scampi & wagyu steak were delicious, warm brownie with vanilla ice cream was divine and our server was wonderful.

First off, overall we had a great experience! Our waitress was spot on with making sure our drinks were full and our meal was goood. We were well taken care of. The overall vibe of the restaurant is comfortable but a bit wide open. Drinks were good and the food was, for the most part, delicious. Wife thoroughly enjoyed her filet and lobster. My sea bass was tasty but not super exciting. The Caesar salad was great and the patatas bravas was perfectly prepared and delicious! This place is a little off the beaten path but we'll definitely be going here again. BTW, you've gotta try the maple old fashioned! It's a bit sweet but delicious!

I now have another great reason to visit Durham. For years the Almendra has has been a great place for wine tasting and bar. As a steakhouse I had the Bone Marrow as an appetizer (sorry no pic) and the rib eye as the main course along with a lovely cobbler as desert. A fine bottle of Pinot Noir to go with the dinner. Personally the only faux pas the wait staff were a trying too hard to make a good impression, hopefully this will improve over time. I feel definitely worth the trip
