Went here last week with my best bud, we went a little early so we were the only customers but the atmosphere and service was still phenomenal, and the patty melt is to die for, absolutely amazing experience definitely coming back !!!
We arrived El Monte really late at night and Jolly Jug was the only place that still serves beef dip sandwiches in their bar. It turned out we have the best beef dip sandwiches in LA. The bun was fresh and the beef was so tender. The Chinese lady, who owns Jolly Jug for 30 some years, came to our table to chat with us, and said her beef dip sandwich has won an award. If you like beef dip sandwich, Jolly Jug is the place to go in El Monte, California.
We stopped by here on a whim a few months ago and have been back 4 times already. It’s an old school diner with old school hospitality. Everything we’ve tried has been good, but we love the beef dip with their homemade gravy sauce. Patty melt was great too! We love the woman who’s always there, as well as the taller guy, they make you feel very welcome. There’s also a bar to the left of the entrance so you can order food at the bar and watch a game. Just a great place...
