Hours say 9-5 but I arrived at 3:30 and it was already closed. The reviews to say give her some slack because its only one person, well clearly dont know how business works because if you are unable to keep up then it is on the business owner to ensure they are properly staffed without taking aggression out on paying customers. The racism that people have been experiencing here is also incredibly problematic and I wouldn't be surprised if there ends up being a lawsuit. Why list opening hours if youre not going to adhere to your own hours??? Shameful. As a Taiwanese Buddhist, we do not claim her nor her dishonest business practices.

Like many other people described in the reviews, I was refused for service for no/unknown reasons. The owner does not respect customers. Hope one day she gets treated the same way and would realize how her attitude make the rejected customers feeling discriminated.

I can understand all the bad reviews and I totally understand wanting great service and this is not an excuse for her but I would urge you all to be more understanding of her situation instead of leaving 1 star reviews that can really affect her business that happens to make amazing vegetarian and vegan food at decent prices. Yes the lady who answers the phone, packs your bento, cooks the food is loud and can be seen as rude but she literally is so busy she doesn't have time to provide good customer service. She is the only person that is answering the phone, taking orders, cooking the food, packing the bentos, cleaning, doing everything to run the place like pay bills, source her materials, do paperwork, open and close the store. She is the only ONE person there. Can you imagine doing all that as ONE person and still having the patience and time to give really good customer service and answer everyone's questions? She finally made ends meet and had enough money to hire a helper so she could have better customer service and then the price hike hit where all the veggies cost more but instead of adding $3-$8 on every thing she sells so she could still get her helper, she didn't hire one. Do you know why? So the customer (you) could still get really good bountiful bentos at a decent price. $8 a bento that's packed! A vegan burger and fries averages $18 nowadays. She also is not discriminating against you. She treats us the same way and my parents and my family and relatives have been buying from her since she opened which is a long time ago. We all joke about who's turns it is to call to ask a question. The loser has to call. Lol! My mom has buys mooncake food everything from her for many many years, a super old loyal customer and she still gets the loud abrasive treatment. Her food is great though! Good priced bentos and really really good mooncakes the mung bean with white flaky crust type. The parking is easy in the lot.The hours are not desirable, and a lot of times when she sells out of bentos she closes early so if you want to eat here you got to go early! How many vege restaurants are even in this area? This place is a really mom and pop shop with ONE person taking care of everything. I'm just imploring you to help support her, she's trying so hard every year to keep her store open all by herself and giving her 1 star reviews because you can and not thinking about the impact it has on other people's livelihood and how hard they are trying to make it work to give us food that we can't get anywhere else because it's not a huge chain restaurant is just something to think about. How do I know all this about her? Because my mom instead of giving her the thumbs down took the time to ask her about things every time she bought something. She wanted to understand where the attitude comes from because as she has always said, people aren't rude because they are, it's because they are going through something and it takes an open heart to show compassion.

The daily bento is delicious and definitely worth the price. There's so much food you can eat it for 2 days. Don't expect a restaurant setting though. Its a small mom and pop shop that sells frozen vegetarian foods.

for anyone who think it's discrimination, don't. I am an asian guy myself. she did that same thing that way she did it to you. she yelled loudly at me to hurry up, and walked into the room. She is cooking the food and can't get away from cooking too long. Or the food would burnt. but I prefer to take my time to cruise around. I can't do that here. go down few miles to sweet veggie restaurant, there you can take your long time to cruise their market. I might go back to this place again and get some of that attitude myself. Only this time, I am going to tell her, I am the customer, I am the king. You watch your attitude.

Vegetarian bento boxes. The portion was huge. Each lunch box was $8 and was filled with lots of veggies and purple rice. There were two options available the day I went and both were delicious.

No English and this is not a restaurant. They only do catering.

After seeing recent 1 Star reviews, I wanted to keep an open mind in trying Merit Veggie Place for the first time. However, in my short exchange with the older Chinese lady at the counter, I feel I was discrimanted against and was refused service. This was the short conversation: Me: Hello, do you have a menu I can view? Woman: No! No menu! (she turns her back and starts to walk into the door behind her) Me: Excuse me, I'm sorry. Do you serve food here? Woman: No menu! Yes, we serve food! Number one on front window! (exits into the back room and slams the door behind her) Please, do not support such discrimination. Enjoy many of the other welcoming plant based restaurants instead.

Their shop says they’re open on Sunday till 3pm. I got here at 2pm but they’re closed. Without any explanation, no one picks up the phone.I drove from Pasadena wanting to try this new place since there isn’t a lot of vegetarian Asian food in the area.Really looking forward to try, but also very disappointed.

Giving one star is actually kind considering my bad experience with this place. The owner is extremely rude and crazy! Apparently she doesn't know how run business. I ordered the moon cakes from her. I called the day that the order is supposed to be ready, sadly it was not. She asked me to pick up later, she did not have my order completed. She did not even had the courtesy to come forward to apologize. Sad!
