SUGGESTION TO THE OWNER OF CHEPO'S: IS IT TOO MUCH TO EXPECT THAT YOU CLEARLY STATE ON YOUR FRONT DOOR THE DAYS YOU MAY BE CLOSED, SUCH AS CHRISTMAS, NEW YEAR'S DAY, ETC?

I went to Dixon to Pedricks to buy tamales today 12/24/24, but they had sold out (1900 today!!!) But the cashier told me where they buy theirs from:
Chepos in Elmira.
I called to ask if they still had any left, she said they did, and that I could give my name inside and order when I got there so I could take it all in. I ended up with 6 pork, 6 chicken, 6 chile and cheese, a large rice and a large beans and spent a total of $54.00. Tamales are $3.00 a piece, rice and beans $3.00 each for a small or $6.00 each for a large. And EVERYTHING is sold HOT. So if you want to sit in your car and eat a whole ass meal, feel free, you won't be the only one. You can also buy drinks, and I heard another patron talking about their order of enchiladas. I also saw quesadillas and I think burritos on their menu. Next time I will be ordering ahead like a week in advance. They had PLENTY left when I got there after 3:30-4pm. They close at 5 today, idk regular hours.
But these tamales are SABROSO to say the least.
Merry Christmas, Chepos!!! You've earned a customer for life. Thank you for the amazing food.
Vegetarian options: I know they have vegetarian tamales.
Parking: Park where you can find it, there's more around the side where the mural is, just don't block the houses that are next door and to the side when you park. Be careful not to block the street. People are usually in and out pretty quickly so if you have to, just wait a couple minutes and a spot will free up.
Kid-friendliness: The food is great, very kid friendly. The employees/owners are so kind and helpful. They also have a dessert tamale, pineapple and raisins.
Wheelchair accessibility: Fully accessible. Flat parking lot, flat doorway, the door isn't automatic, plenty of room for a wheelchair of any size. Parking is quite close, so even if you can't get a handicapped spot (idk if there is more than one), it's still just a few steps to the door and back regardless of where you have to park in their lot. I have mobility issues and had no problems personally.

Hands down the best tamales always fresh, woubderfull beans rice. They are the nicest family, it's wonderful to support a small family business that's been here for years and always always accommodating.

Tamales are great, the workers are nice. My family and I always buy from Chepos. I am just suggesting to please train your workers how to charge using the credit card machine. They have a machine but it's been at least 2-3 times we have been told they don't know how to use it and the last time they told my husband they would only take cash because they don't know how to use the machine.
I like all

THE worst tamales I have ever had. Got them from Ikedas, California Country Market. Nothing but a ton of the cornmeal outside and hardly anything (pork, chili — only one narrow strip) inside. Don’t waste your time. I’ve had better from grocery stores

This place is very good I got the chicken and pork tamales and the flavor is absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend checking this place out after talking to the owner. He said this place has been around for 30 years so that definitely proves how good it is! The sauce is very good as well. Haven’t had a salsa like this in a while!! I paid $10 for two chicken, tamales and two pork tamales!

After hearing so much about how good their tamales were and being too lazy to make my own recently I tried these. Was not impressed in the least. Probably the worst I've had from any restaurant or takeout I've tried. Dry and tasteless. No amount of homemade salsa could improve the dryness or lack of flavor.
Best tamales, hands down!!
