This place has so much potential but unfortunately drops the ball on what is most important. The grounds are beautiful, the on site restaurant in such a remote place is great, the service is incredible. The room left me disgusted. The carpet was old and stained. It felt sticky to walk on. I left socks on which I quarantined in a plastic bag until I could get to a washing machine. Then the worst part was the mattress. It looked like from a past era- 80s/90s mattress. Yellowed, collapsing, hard springs and on top of that no mattress protector. Of all the things to cheap out on. Mattress protectors are an absolute requirement and not expensive 😭. Dust mites and bacteria accumulation is bedding is a hygiene issue. The cheap polyester sheets on the bed kept sliding up revealing the mattress and I actually gagged a few times trying to climb in to bed. The #1 purpose of a hotel is to rest. Hotels that do not understand the importance of a comfortable clean bed to lay one's head and rest should not be in the hotel business. Literally the only reason hotels exist.

Road Construction was a Bear but not the Lodges fault

I could’ve just left a bad review and called it a day. I was given the smallest room, with a carpet that looks like it’s been there since 1879 and has never been cleaned. Honestly, I was afraid to walk on it barefoot.

But—this place has its charm.

The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming—possibly a family-run business. The location is truly special, and I really enjoyed my three-night stay. The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet, which made it a perfect escape.

The restaurant is very nice—the food is fresh, and the coffee is amazing. One of the unexpected highlights was the free TV channels playing great old movies. It really added to the cozy, nostalgic vibe.

Despite Room 6 being a bit of a challenge, the shower was surprisingly great.

Overall, I truly enjoyed my vacation here. I’ll be back—and I’ll definitely recommend this place to others.

Thank you.

This place is terrible the only way they get service is because of the location. Constant noise throughout the day by the workers, and you can hear everything on those old decrepit stairs. The rooms are dirty and beds extremely uncomortable but the only positive thing is the shower. Oh and if you wanna complain about anything at all they just sadfish/guilt trip you because it's a community program for drug recovering addicts still not an excuse for the poorly managed place

We had an excellent stay at Sierra Woods Lodge. Everyone was extremely hospitable and friendly. The room was comfy and the bed was comfortable. The food at The Rustic Table (attached to the lodge) was fresh and the menu was great. They can also make any flavor lattes and espresso as well. A great place to stay in the area.

I had to jump on here and let you know what an amazing business this is. First off we were stuck on the freeway going back home when a snow storm hit. They said they would not be opening it until the morning so we decided to drive back and look for a motel near by. We stumbled upon The Sierra Woods Lodge and called to make a reservation for that evening. The gentleman answering the phone said no worries just get here safely when you can and we will hold the room. Not only did he hold the room without giving the usual CC info but when we checked in he located extra tooth brushes and some amenities that were not provided and really went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. The restaurant was about to close and we were not the only ones checking in so late because of the freeway closure. They stayed open and made sure we all had food to eat. This felt like a hometown experience and we are so grateful to have been part of that experience. I cannot say enough about these folks and their wonderful staff. Thank you so much for being a great experience and making us feel at home with just the clothes on our backs.

Had such a great stay here. Everyone on the property is so kind and helpful. This is a little more rustic but so comfortable and romantic. Room is a little smaller but I preferred it this way, made for an extra cozy experience. The stone shower in our room was my favorite part! Lots of walking paths for my puppy and delicious food on site in the restaurant next door. Will absolutely be back here!

Best hotel for the price near tahoe. Clean, simple, extremely helpful staff. E.x: we left something in the lobby and Brian proactively brought it to our room.

Traveling between Fresno and Reno, it was our first time staying at the lodge. Our experience was outstanding. Our room was clean, cozy and warm. It snowed about 6 inches over night. Had dinner and breakfast at the Rusty Table. The food was really good. Enjoyed so much on our drive home from Reno we stopped for lunch. Would recommend you stop and enjoy a good meal or make reservations and spend the night.

The bathroom was super dirty. The tub had hair in the drain and was clogged. I had to clean it myself before I could even take a shower. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The views were great from the bedroom window. If the cleanliness was better, I would have left a 5* review.

Rooms: Outdated but cozy.
