Great experience. From the service, to the atmosphere and to the food. Always a great place to dine.

Davenport's is an excellent choice for celebrations or simply a good meal. The only issue this time was that upon arrival, I was told I had made the reservation for an outside table, which I had not. They said they had nothing available until I pulled up my confirmation and explained that I had made the reservation through Open Table; they were then able to find us an inside table.

Overall i usually enjoy this restaurant but they cannot really accomodate handicap people and last minute reservations. The prime rib was superb. The wedge was ok. I thought the banana cram pie on the menu was a pie but turned out to be a creme brulee banana creme pie. There was no recommended chef specials. We ate outside and had to ask to turn down the music 3x. The heat lamps were good for a while but then died out and they had to do replacement propane tanks so we were cold for a little bit. Had to remind the servers to help my 80 year old mother be seated. We had to ask for our server a few times so she probably had tables inside so we were the straggler table outside. Will i return? Yes but i will take my elder mother somewhere else if she wants a steak.

Delicious dinner. Wonderful service and ambiance. Pricey drinks. We came to celebrate a birthday and they could not have been nicer.

The food and service was,as always, impeccable and managed very well. What's more, and worthy of a 10on this five point scale, was the staff's graciousness in moving us to a quieter corner of the restaurant so we could really visit with our granddaughter and her husband on their first anniversary. Thank you Davenport's. We'll definitely be back.

We were seated in the “ wine room” which is dark and not very inviting. Service was terrible. We had to get up to find our waitress. Other people sitting in the room did as well. Ordered the short rib which they were out of that night. Asked for broccoli instead of spinach. The dish came with spinach. Notified the waitress that my order was incorrect was told they would bring the broccoli. She didn't come back for 20 minutes at which time she said they were out of broccoli. Said she could substitute asparagus for an extra charge. Really?

We are frequently go to this establishment and always have a great meal. We ordered the special and was very disappointed. I only had 3 small scallops on my plate as an entree!! Not at all pleased.

Apparently the bar stools at Devenport’s are owner reserved.

We stopped at Devenport’s in Encino for a drink at the bar before heading to a one Michelin star restaurant across the street. When we arrived, the bar was completely empty. We were the only guests there.

While we were seated at the bar, the bartender told us we needed to move because the owner was arriving. At the same time, he abruptly placed two menus and two rollups directly in front of us, clearly marking the seats as “reserved.” There had been no signage or prior notice before we sat down.

Shortly after, the owner showed up, touched one of us on the shoulder, and said, “That’s my seat. I’m going to the bathroom, but when I come back, I need the seat.”

We actually started to laugh out of disbelief. In our entire careers working in five star hotels, we have never experienced anything like this. We fully understand reserved seating when there is prior signage or proper communication, but this was neither.

Being physically touched and pushed out of seats despite an entirely empty bar was arrogant, dismissive, and deeply unprofessional. This is not hospitality.

This happened two weeks ago, and I still find myself thinking about it. It has become my go to anecdote every time I talk about poor service since leaving your restaurant.

So there you have it. Consider this our contribution to your well earned one star review.

My bf used to live 5 min away from Davenports 8 years ago, but we never made it to your establishment. Now that he lives in Simi Valley, we were looking for a different place to go this past weekend for dinner and drinks. I Googled places, and Davenports came up. I was extremely pleased by the service and food quality. Everyone was extremely nice and friendly. We ended up eating at the bar to really get the feel of the place. The vibes are exactly what we like. A very quaint and lively atmosphere. Dimly lit for ambience. We will definitely be back.

What a terrible experience.

We were there for New Year's Eve. We were seated promptly. Short ribs and NY steak were excellent and service was exceptional. Portions are generous so we had leftovers to take home. Highly recommended.

The chimichuri steak is great. I've also had the cioppino, and the pork chop. Based on others dining with me, everything on the menu is top notch. I make it a habit to come here about once a month. They validate and plenty of parking in the rear.

Had a reservation for a Saturday night and waited 15 minutes to be seated for our reservation. Went to this restaurant specifically for their oysters, so it was a bummer that they were out that night. Then the server forgot to put in our appetizer, so it never came. Once the food did come out, both of our meals were just okay. The bottom of my asparagus was hard and chewy, and the prime rib was really chewy and lacked flavor. I ordered a side of mushrooms and had to ask for it to be brought out because someone forgot it. Then we were left waiting for our server to bring us the bill for what felt like a long time. Overall, we both left disappointed and thought the service and food quality was not worth the bill. I can't see us returning in the future. Wanted to really like this place as all the reviews looked promising, but we did not have a good experience.

We recently visited Davenport's to celebrate a birthday and were excited to dine at such a well-regarded restaurant. While we truly enjoyed the flavor and quality of the food, several aspects of our experience fell short of what we expected from a distinguished establishment. One person in our party ordered a rare rib-eye, but we were informed later that the chefs were only able to prepare steaks at medium doneness. He ended up having to switch to a different steak entirely. When his new entrée arrived, his arugula salad unfortunately contained a very long hair. The staff was apologetic and offered a complimentary dessert, which we appreciated. Our waitress was kind, but she checked on us very infrequently. We could tell she may have had another large party to manage, but it left us waiting for long stretches throughout the evening. We also noticed that every table around us was served bread at the start of their meal, yet our table was never given any. Overall, this wasn't the experience we hoped for on a birthday celebration. With Davenport's strong reputation, we expected a smoother, more attentive visit. While the food itself was enjoyable, the overall service and mishaps made the evening disappointing. This will likely be our last visit.

This time, despite the perfect atmosphere and food... the service wasn't very good! I'm not exactly spoiled by service in my life, but even I noticed it...
