I always come here but last night I was served with a big broken mug and felt the crack when I sip on my cold beer and kinda felt very disappointed. Waiter did change the glass and fresh set of beer but it ruin my mood due to safety hazard. I hope I did not sip any glass particles!

This restaurant does not take allergy claims seriously. I have a massive dairy allergy (I cannot eat milk products, not even a little of butter.) I’ve let the waiter know, and asked them to double check dairy content for each of the plates I ordered. They’ve assured me that nothing I had ordered had milk products in it. 30-45 min after coming out of the restaurant, I start feeling 9/10 stomach pain in waves, characteristic of dairy intake crisis that I recognize. It also takes that fast for me to feel the first symptoms of a crisis so there was no doubt it was due to something I ate there. Long story short, it was an awful rest of my evening. I’m suspecting the sauce of the salad which I’ve asked 2 times about its potential dairy content (when ordered and when it arrived.) It’s the day after, I still feel weak but thankfully it’s not a life threatening allergy. If I did, I would have been dead by now. I will never ever come back.

Terrible Experience — Overcharged Without Permission
I had an awful experience at this sushi restaurant. After finishing my meal and paying my bill, I later discovered they charged my card again without my authorization. This is completely unacceptable and unethical. The food was average at best, but what really shocked me was being billed more than the amount on my receipt after I left. When I tried to contact them, they were unhelpful and dismissive. I strongly recommend avoiding this place until they learn how to treat customers with honesty and respect.

Restaurantji Recommends
Honestly, I would give more stars if I could. The ambiance and restaurant itself was very elegant but cozy. Every dish we tried was incredible, we started with appetizers the crispy rice with tuna was cooked to perfection as well as the cucumber and avocado salad, which was delicious and flavorful.
Some of my FAVORITES included the yellowtail and jalepenos which i would highlyyy recommend. The Jessica Roll was absolutely to die for and melted in your mouth. We had a few other rolls including the lemon roll and fantasy roll while also grabbing the salmon and yellowtail belly.
Everything was super fresh and flavorful. I would highly recommend stopping by here whether it be with friends to catch up or your significant other for a date.

Had the most incredible dinner at Kopan Ramen Encino! This became my favorite sushi and Japanese food in the valley. All the rolls were fresh and the sushi was super high quality. I also loved the rib eye hot pot, fried octopus and all the sushi rolls (Mango, Devils kiss roll, geisha roll, EVERYTHING!) ☺️❤️ the service was also amazing shout out to Charlie and the entire staff who took care of us and really put so much effort into creating a wonderful dining atmosphere. I can’t wait to come back!

The interior is beautifully decorated with traditional japanese wooden architecture and decor. The dim lighting adds nicely to the ambiance, and isolated booths make for a perfect date night. Many restaurants are loud and too close to other tables so I loved this feature!
Service was friendly and attentive- our server took away finished plates and trash quickly.
Food: We got the unagi sushi (recommend!), uni sushi, spicy tuna crispy rice to start. The rice had a crunchy exterior which I loved, as it often is a hit or miss at other places with soggy rice.
The coco loco yellowtail citrus was very refreshing and the coconut/basil spicy infusion helped cut through the brightness so well. The yellowtail was also very tender.
Other favorites include baked salmon (soo buttery and melty), snowcone roll, blue crab roll (soft and sweet crab with twang from the cheese), and fatty tuna sushi.
The spider roll was a miss (i like more crunch/leg) but everything else was amazing and well worth the price!

Review:
Great vibe, especially for dates and conversation.
Ginza sushi plate was sooooo good. Great size fish slices and really fun selection.
Ramens bowls were more than enough for kids. Donburi bowls for grandparents were perfect portion sizes.
Everything is really fresh and flavorful.
Story Time:
I went to Kopan ramen in the 2010s, when it first opened in Burbank. I had a lot of good memories there with a mentor. He always ordered extra toppings and told me to do so too and then he would pay for my meals. I really saw him as a father figure.
The last time I talked to him was when he was joining a political cult in 2016. He said anyone who voted for the other side couldn’t be a true follower of his god.
In 2023 I came out as queer and got excommunicated from my own religious community where I had dedicated 18 years of my life. Almost all of the people from that community just cut me off.
Except for one. She worked in Encino and invited me to Kopan Ramen. She told me that no matter what she was still my friend and that she wanted me to be happy.
Moral of the story. Ramen heals. Share a bowl.
