Visited The Nook in Encino and had mixed feelings. My BLT sandwich was decent, but it was light on the bacon—disappointing given the high price. My friend’s eggs Benedict were just okay, nothing special. The service was underwhelming; we had to flag down a server in a mostly empty restaurant just to place our order. Overall, it felt overpriced for the quality and experience

Both times I’ve been here, the food and service have been very good. They have tasty iced mochas and chai lattes. The pumpkin French toast was so delicious! Only four stars on the atmosphere, just because it gets a little loud & echoey inside on a busy day. But they also have outdoor seating which is where we easily moved to. But other than that, great experiences all around!

In the heart of Encino lies an AMAZING restaurant for great Breakfast and even lunch. Visited many times already and received great service!! Also very impressed by the very Farm FRESH ingredients used in our breakfast omelettes. Everything is served in Generous portions.

We highly recommend the
1) BIG MAMA omelette made w/ egg whites, fresh spinach, veggie sausage, garlic, mushrooms, jalapeños, tomatillos sauce & mozzarella cheese. Very flavorful, light and delicious!!
2) MEXICALI Omelette = the WOW omelette
Loaded with Ortega chiles, chorizo, garlic, onions, mushrooms, avocado, cilantro, jack cheese All Covered with their very own very delicious Rancheros sauce.

FYI***Just as DELICIOUS as the MEXICALI omelette but served as a Burrito is the EL GORDITO BURRITO… OMG love this too!!

3) TUTTI FRUTTI French Toast soooooo good!!!
Served Fresh sprinkled with cinnamon & powdered sugar topped with strawberries & blueberries!! Very thick Great tasting toast too!!

A VERY healthy dish is hidden in their menu under EXTRA EXTRAS: the MR UNIVERSE plate with egg whites, grilled chicken & a side of broccoli. Very delicious!!

Don’t forgot to get their great tasting coffee or even a Latte. Many different choices to choose from! But my FAV is their CHAI LATTE !!! Wow!

For Lunch I highly recommend the
TURKEY AVOCADO WRAP which is loaded with Turkey breast, bacon, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, arugula, tomatoes, chipotle mayo & jack cheese! So delicious!!

It is a great place with good food and very nice staff. Our burgers were cooked perfectly, med rare. The onion rings were light and crisp. Very tasty.

The food and service were excellent. The atmosphere (sitting inside) was quite loud. Other than that, no complaints. I had the lady marmalade pancakes - pumpkin pancakes with pumpkin marmalade (on the side). Soft, delicious pancakes with just the right amount of pumpkin flavor.

Love this place their food is great, very convenient. Today unfortunately I was greatly embarrassed not sure how this mistake was made but thought I’d review. I paid for my food before it was given to me. After it was given to me as I was walking away in a hugely crowded space the server who gave me my takeout order yells “you still have to pay” after her coworker corrected her letting her know I paid previously no apology. Damage was done you just yelled across a busy restaurant that I didn’t pay for my order which was incorrect. Whatever can be done in the future to mitigate mishaps like this would be greatly appreciated. It doesn’t help that I also was the only African American customer in the entire space at the time. So I watched everyone watch me as I walked out. Thanks!

Started charging 4% surcharge on credit cards a few months ago. Sadly, you won't know about it unless you ask for a broken down printed bill. They HIDE the fee in the portable payment device they leave on your table. Even more sad, they add the suggested tip AFTER the CC fee and taxes. Why would I pay tip on top of your outrageous CC fee and tax? Fix this Nook management. Been coming there for last 10 years, never again if this is your practice to scam customers out of more money.

Parking: Stop charging outrageous credit card fees!

I was excited to finally try the Nook and it was not what we expected. We came on a weekday morning, just myself and my toddler. I try to get out of the house with her in the mornings and decided to grab a little breakfast. The food and service was not good. There were maybe 2 other couples in the whole place. My daughter didn’t touch anything but the cottage cheese from my plate, which obviously came out of the same type of tub you can get at any grocery store. The bacon we both had was so tough and chewy it literally hurt to eat it. She spit it out and said “ouchie”. My bacon was the exact same way. The toast came out hard and cold, just everything was super subpar so we literally didn’t eat much of anything besides the cottage cheese and tomato’s that I ordered on the side. Then I had to keep calling someone over because we weren’t being checked on. Just needed some more napkins and maybe a coffee refill. Whenever I go out to eat with my baby I make sure we are super low key…. So I don’t ask for much. Just decent service and food that’s actually edible. Sad to have spent $45 on a kids meal and my basic 2 egg and bacon breakfast here and to not be able to eat basically anything but the item that I can get for $2 from the grocery store. Unfortunately I don’t recommend.

Also, I’ll add that when you ask for the check, they don’t give you one. They stand there with their little pay at the table thing and just hand it to you with a screen that just has three pre-selective tip amounts for you to choose from. So it’s super awkward because you’re just sitting there staring at what tip you have to give them whether you had good service or not. You don’t get to look at your tab to make sure everything‘s OK. You just have to put in your card and pay and then they’ll print out a receipt if you ask for it. I worked in the service industry for years and I will be one of the first to say that the auto tip for horrible service needs to stop. In California, you actually get a living wage you shouldn’t just be handed some thing and it assumes that you’re going to be tipped because you’re serving them when you don’t actually give good service.

I've visited The Nook several times and found the food consistently good. However, the quality, which could have been better, seemed a bit off during my recent visit. I also went there hoping to do some work, but they don't offer Wi-Fi. It's hard to believe that nowadays, a place would need to provide such a basic amenity.

Overall, The Nook is a decent spot, but with so many other great places offering good food and Wi-Fi, it's hard to justify choosing this one. You should explore different options that cater better to today's needs.
