This place is a diner with the smoker right outside. The place is clean but a little rundown. They should provide better serving utensils and plates. The chicken was a bit dry but the ribeye and brisket were nicely done. Glad we stopped by and supported them. Hopefully they will renovate their facilities

Love this hidden gem. We found it on the way home when I saw how long traffic was to get home. I love bbq and this place was fantastic. I got the ribs and they fell off the bone. I also got the brisket and it literally melted as I was getting it. I love the 2 different bbq sauces. I couldnt decide which one I liked better so I just mixed them. So it was sweet and tangy. Highly recommend! Portions are great!

Got the sampler plate that includes everything and It wasn’t very good quality, cuts of meat not tender and hard to chew. trashed most of it. BBQ sauce is the cheap stuff out the bottle. Would compare it to cafeteria food. Coleslaw was fresh though I did enjoy that.

Not a lot of frills in the dining room but we all enjoyed our food. I had pulled pork sandwich and my husband had the tri tip dinner. It is not presauced, so we were able to pick which sauce we wanted, which was a surprise treat! And there fried okra was on point!

Ordered the $52 sample plate. The sausage was rubbery. The ribs were dry, not juicy. The pulled pork was ok, with some parts being dry. The brisket was tender, but had very little flavor. The tritip pieces were small and tough. We didn't try the chicken. The meats were luke warm, while the cold slaw was warm. None of the meats were covered in bbq sauce, but we were given 4 very small containers of bbq sauce on the side...not enough for the meats. We were told we would have to pay for extra. The bbq sause had an after taste. The bbq beans were chunky on the inside, possibly under cooked. The three diner rool were very small. All in all, the worst bbq ever and not at all

I would say average at best. Cheap cuts of meat, not very tender or tasty. The beans seemed undercooked and the potato salad is very mustardy. BBQ sauce seems to be the cheap kind out the jar. 2 stars because they are trying and its the only thing in the immediate area.
Took us way too long of living here so start trying this place out. Very hole in the wall vibe, with solid food.
Not many places in San Diego where you're going to get high quality brisket.
Delicious bbq and sides.

The Texas-style meats smoked here are about as good as they get in North San Diego County, right up there with Smokin J's in Poway. The pulled pork and brisket were lean, tender, and delicious. The sandwiches are served with no BBQ sauce on them which I prefer, but two sauces are on the side -- one sweeter and one smokier. The brioche buns are very soft and tasty, and hold up well while munching down. The coleslaw was fresh and crunchy with nicely balanced flavors, and the fries were pretty good except that they could have used another minute in the fryer. I'd ask for them lightly well done next time.
No free water is available and I don't understand why. There are only six tables inside, but plenty outside. One pet peeve is that like many quick-serve restaurants, the tip screen starts at 15%. Just for taking an order and bringing it out or yelling your name? They should start at 10%, which is more than this level of service deserves, especially given the elevated prices. It would be better than the NO TIP option which I select rather than hassling with a custom tip entry while the order taker stares at you with a long, sad face.
If Yelp allowed decimals, I'd give it a 4.5, taking off a bit for the lack of water, partially soggy fries, no restrooms, and attempted tip extortion.
