Wine & Cider Tasting Flight at the Hallcrest Vineyards tasting room in Felton.

We were having a hard time deciding what flights to have and the staff wonderfully suggested getting one of each and sharing.

The Santa Cruz Scrumpy Cider had numerous tie ins with the wines themselves - be in shared Viognier yeast with the “French Kiss” or a blended cider & rosé which was my partner’s favourite cider.

Our mutual favourite wine was the 2020 Spotted Cat Vineyard Pinot Noir.

The tasting room itself was situated very nicely and we had a very relaxing afternoon.

This is by far my favorite vineyards in the entire region. I love this place so much! The views and the staff are absolutely perfect. I love their Viognier, I come by at 4pm when the golden hour shines through. It’s always a divine experience. ❤️

I suspect, the high reviews here are due to the ambiance and view. The Tasting Room server was very nice and welcoming. The wine itself is absolutely terrible… it’s like a science experiment gone wrong. Hence, my one star review. I expect 5 star venues come with decent wine….

Came here on our Guess Where Trips surprise itinerary, and I'm so glad we did! The setting is absolutely perfect, and the winery building itself is super cute and rustic. They have a gorgeous dog-friendly patio with incredible views - perfect for sipping their delicious wine. I tried the viognier and my partner tried one of their ciders - both were really good! Definitely come out here if you're in the area!

Ref camping (did not try the wine)Nice place but too expensive as no services apart from portaloo. In its defence it is as advertised.

This review is about events at Hallcrest Vineyards. There's more bad than should be possible from the location. The vineyards themselves are in a beautiful place in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but the event venue is in the back behind the vats and feels like the farm boneyard. That's OK, but the stage / audience arrangement is horrible for acoustics and especially for viewing. The stage is raised about 6" and is at the uphill side of a slanted paved audience zone, and the seat rows are aligned at a 45 degree angle to the stage, so it's difficult enough to see to begin with, even with a small audience. If you get there early, you have a hard time finding two adjacent seats with a decent view. That's hard to bungle in such a small space, but there it is.But here's the kicker (and the reason that I write this review): As people arrive 30, 40, 50 minutes late, the talkative gate keeper brings in extra chairs, and he puts them right up front, completely blocking the view of people who chose their seats before the show began. Now you see the show, now you don't. Annoying? Very!People intrinsically don't like other people taking cuts, especially when it blocks what they paid to see, and there's nowhere else to sit. It ruins the vibe and distracts far too much from the music.Simple solution: Set up all the chairs correctly before the show begins and let people know what they're getting when they sit down. How hard is that?

Hallcrest Vineyards is one the most lovely vineyards with wonder people in the area.My husband and I came back here several times for wine tasting and always purchased a bottle to-go. One of the owner is usually here and she’s very kind and informative with wines, even suggests us the best wine for our mood of the day.We invited our friends from other states to this specific vineyard over Napa because we simply loved this place more.Unfortunately today, we had a terrible experience with a worker we’ve never seen. There was an event happening at the store so we wanted to make a quick stop to pick up 3 bottles of 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon that we loved during last visit. It was a gift for our dear friends who were visiting from another state. It was busy in the store yet this worker insisted to see both of our IDs. I didn’t have my ID handy (I left it in the car) because we were just buying bottles to-go. Besides, who buys 3 bottles of Cabernet to “get drunk”?I got ID from my car and she continued on to tell me my ID is about to expire soon (Yes, my drivers license is expiring soon, in 2 months on my birthday). Why does that matter? We are 32 years old. I am a decade over my drinking age. It is normal to be IDed, however, the way she treated me was unnecessarily rude.I was disgusted by the attitude and the treatment. It was very, very unfortunate to experience that in a place I once loved.Thank you everyone else from the vineyard for the great wine and experience you’ve brought in the past. I hope this can bring an awareness to how one worker can ruin a person’s experience.
