Had to get a quick lunch while working in Felton. I haven't had taqueria viarta since it was downtown Santa Cruz. 51

I've been coming here since I was a little kid! The food is super yummy. We especially like the carnitas, el pastor, chorizo, and brc burritos! The burritos typically are big enough for two. And those chips are simply the best. The restaurant itself is okay if you are in a hurry, but I highly recommend taking your food to go and eating your food in the park or at Henry Cowell. As for the service, the staff is usually happy to explain and make conversation, even when there's a language barrier.

Many years ago, I gave this neighborhood place five stars. Things have changed a lot in the kitchen since COVID, and not for the better. In three visits, we've been disappointed with the food. Shrimp and fish tacos have suffered the most. Meats are mostly still OK. I suspect new ownership, because the ways they prepare dishes have changed, and because we no longer recognize the people. Sad, because it's local to us, and we used to visit regularly.Parking is easy in their good sized lot. Prices are fine. Seating both inside and outside is fine, but not fancy. The fresh squeezed juices are still great -- I order orange, my wife orders carrot. Salsas are fine and free, but pica de gallo lacks fire.

Love this place. Delicious. You got to try it. I like the super burritos. The enchiladas are also really good.

When I go here, I get the same dish every time. I ordered my "wet" burrito as I always do. Service was very fast, but they brought a "dry" one instead. I told the guy that delivered the food that it wasn't right, he shrugged and pointed to the guy at the register. That guy now insists I did not properly order a wet burrito and charges me $2.39 more to fix the order he didn't get right. The beautiful girl that works there always gets my order correct and has impeccable customer service skills. Probably a fluke, and only a few bucks, but the right thing to do would have been to fix it and apologize. Just one guys opinion...

Good food everytime we come here. We've ordered through yelp and dined in a couple times and its always a great experience . The asada meat is really good.

Still excellent after all these years! I've been coming here for over 20 years. Not this location in particular, but usually the locations in SC. And Vallarta never disappoints. Recently tried this Felton location and brought the fam. We had kids nachos with beans, kids bean burrito, street tacos with carne asada and beef, chile relleno, and carnitas super quesadilla. Everyone was very happy with their meal. I LOVE their shredded chicken super quesadillas too, which is still my fave item here. But everything is generally great. We arrived early afternoon (Friday lunch rush) but got our food super fast--shockingly fast! They have a cute little outdoor seating area at this location but we ate inside. Santa Cruz staple for sure!

Great authentic Mexican food. Fast, friendly service. Love the carnitas and the salsa bar!

Great tacos! I had the fish and a carnitas “super taco.” The latter was so loaded that it would make a good meal on its own if you’re medium-hungry. Plus, house-made chips are provided at no extra cost, a nice touch. Friendly staff and tasty, fresh, affordable Mexican food: what more could you want? Highly recommended!

I'm not normally one to write a bad review... When I came here we ordered 3 Al pastor tacos and 3 tacos with asada. The Al pastor was clearly old meat. I could taste it upon the first bite. I brought the food back up extremely apologetically as I could be and told them I could not eat it because it was obviously rancid meat. They did not offer to make me new food or refund me for the three tacos. I then went back in after cleaning up and asked for my money back. I paid cash and had already tipped. They told me I could not get my money back and they would make me new tacos with different meat. They made new tacos and I was scared to eat them.

Fast Mexican cuisine where the food is good and reasonably priced.
