This place is very selective; they clearly have a vision of who they want to be there without legally being able to discriminate. They also really don’t like kids, and they’ve got a ton of ridiculous rules to adhere to in the hopes that you’ll give up and not come with kids at all. My mom friends and I went here with our little kids/babies. First we accidentally sat to breastfeed on some lounge chairs that were apparently reserved so they told us we couldn’t sit on these chairs. Fair enough, although some signage would have been nice. Then, they proceeded to let us know that there is no glass allowed by the pool and reached IN to my friends PURSE that was sitting on top of her stroller away from the pool to grab out her glass jar of water. This man did not ask, he simply grabbed it and looked at us and said the jar would be at the front desk when we check out. My son had also been swimming in the small kiddie pool and I noticed some blue crystal like silt at the bottom that my son was twisting and spinning through with his goggles while swimming and on the drive home began complaining of very bad throat pain. We ended up having to take him to Stanford children’s hospital. He was stable and Trout Farms did cooperate in telling us what they put in their pools, but it was just the cherry on top after the unwelcoming, rigid experience. I am fifth generation local, and this place doesnt carry the legacy that a long time locals spot should. I’ll continue to share my experience whenever I hear someone mention this place.

Very welcoming staff. The pool is nicely heated even in January. The showers get hot! The food is delicious. A great experience.

Trout Farm Inn has a nice pool and everything else is alright at best. We reserved a premium cabana for a group of friends and were a bit disappointed with the stained couch cushions and slow service. We tried to order food and were told to wait a while because the kitchen was too backed up. There’s nothing wrong with the food they offer, but the prices are kind of high when you are also paying for access to the pool and $9 - $16 per drink. Overall, we spent about $100 a head and were left thinking next time we’ll just go to the beach. There is no hot tub. Their mandatory 20% gratuity makes sense — I don’t think many people would voluntarily tip that high for the service they received here.

My brother had a going away party for us and the owner would not let us in, after letting everyone else in behind us. She was very rude and this is terrible customer service. DO NOT GO HERE!

Hands down my favorite place in time. First discovered for my sisters post wedding celebration. It's a on of a kind vibe, pool area is like no other place in town. Love the chicken Picata, burgers & variety of incredble cocktails. The ambiance & warm welcoming atmosphere keeps my family coming back. So happy to have place in town! Would highly recommend for date nights or fun family nights out.

As a local resident that has lived up Zayante from the restaurant for the last 37 years, I desperately want the Trout Farm to succeed. We have eaten there several times with mixed experiences. Obviously, the bar and pool are sustaining it.
We had the worst service experience in my entire life last Sunday. We received our food two hours after arriving. There were no attempts by the staff to explain. They then had the gall to automatically put a 20% tip on the bill!!! (Yes, we had a party of 7) Again, with no apology or offer to comp anything.
Wake up, management, and either get your act together or just expand your bar into the restaurant space. Right now it is an absolute waste of time and money. You permanently lost local patrons last week.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with the service after reading some reviews but it was great! We went on a Thursday afternoon for pool and snacks. Christina was handling the entire pool area and she did so with friendliness, humor, and grace. Pool was clean and perfect temperature. Bathrooms and changing areas were clean. Food hit the spot. Setting is gorgeous. We’ll definitely be back.

Oh, the Trout Farm was lovely, with trees up above,
A place full of charm that you just want to love.
The outside was peaceful, the view was a win,
I walked in with hope and a big hungry grin.
The food? It was great — I’ll give them their due.
Each bite hit the mark, and the drinks did too.
But the inside? Oh no… it just missed the mark,
Like a lunchroom that never quite found its spark.
It felt kind of cold, a bit thrown together,
Not cozy, not warm — more cafeteria than clever.
A makeover’s needed, or a new set of eyes,
To match all the beauty that sits right outside.
Now the service — oh boy. It was slow, slow, slow.
So slow, in fact, that time seemed to go.
Our waiter was kind, but clearly quite new,
And every review said the same thing too.
You’ll wait for your food, you’ll wait for your drink,
You’ll wait long enough to just sit there and think.
The owner was there, but oddly aloof,
With all of the staff rushing under one roof.
They hustled and scrambled and did what they could,
But one extra hand would have really do.
For prices that high and portions that small,
You’d hope for more polish, more rhythm, more all.
Still, the meal was quite good, and the setting’s a plus,
It just needs some love — not a whole lot, just thus.
So here’s my review, with a soft little chime:
A beautiful place… if you’ve got the time.

I have been to the Trout Farm many times. The ambiance is great. The bar area is super fun and they have a great wine list. The cocktails are exceptional and not over priced. I hosted my 50th birthday there and the staff took such good care of us and went above and beyond to make sure my friends had the best time. Obviously I had the trout on one visit, and it was spectacular. A must try!

I’ve been DJing at the Trout Farm pool for about 1 year. Their staff is friendly, hospitable, and happy. Communication behind the scenes is consistent and professional. I look forward to working with them more!

I used to come to The Trout Farm since I was little. It has changed and been upgraded for the most part. They had a pretty awesome DJ for 4th of July weekend, DJ Wyze1 he's a really good DJ played Reggae and a laid back mix. he's actually Locally Grown, SCHS was in the house! Nice people working there and speedy service. I didn't try the food this time so that's why I didn't rate that. This is a great spot to go esp when it's cloudy in SC it's always hotter up in Zayante. Go make great memories like I did and check it out! I want to do a yoga class in the morning next time.
