My hubby and I are locals, born and raised. It's so nice to have a watering hole with a pool for those hot summer months up here out of town! I do think it's a strange that people bring their young children to an environment that centers heavily on alcohol, especially the pool area. There are plenty of family friendly places to swim in the valley, and it's so nice to have an adult option to beat the heat on the days that kids aren't there. This is not the fault of the Trout Farm, just an observation and maybe a heads up to people who don't want to have small children and babies mixed in with their poolside cocktails. We ate lunch there today, everything was great but I forgot my bag when we left and the lovely bartender with the beautiful red hair ran out to the parking lot to catch me before I left!! What an angel, I'm so sorry I didn't get her name but she went above and beyond and I have a feeling that's just how she is. So overall love this place, great food and great atmosphere, and an extra thanks to the bartender who saved me today! ❤️

I want to like the place. Great location wonderful ambiance. Food is pretty good but the service is god awful. I have been twice. Twice they have messed up my order. They also don’t tell you about the food. After the messed up meal I ordered a cheese cake. She brings it and neglected to tell me it’s covered in jam. I don’t like jam. I asked for a new slice. She brings me one much smaller than the previous one, the previous one was falling apart and the tip was missing.
Can ya’ll pay attention to the order and food your bringing out and talk about the food so that diners can know what they’re ordering?

I will likely not be returning here because the experience we had today was so bad, even though I have enjoyed Trout Farm in the past. First the waiter brought an incorrect kids meal, despite us correcting him when he read the order back wrong. Then we waited more than an hour for our entrees. It was egregious for how few people were there. There was also a strung out patron at the bar continually following women (including myself) into the restroom who very clearly should have been asked to leave. Even the waitstaff seemed uncomfortable but nothing was done. We packed up our food and left once it finally arrived. Disappointed by such poor treatment from an otherwise nice option in the valley.

Food has always been good here, just wish the back of the house and front of the house could come together. The poor staffing represents deep issues. Felt bad for the server who struggled to keep up with the demands (which weren’t much) definitely not interested in going back any time soon

This place is simply gorgeous! We were traveling for the holidays and stumbled upon this place because they are dog friendly. We got lucky! Cocktails are superb. Food is amazing! Desserts are heavenly. Beautiful location too!

We were excited about trying a new place, but unless the front of house gets better we won't go back. We were seated right away. But after that service went down hill. No one came back to our table to take our orders for quite some time. We had to ask to give our order and then there seemed to be confusion about who would take our table. Once we ordered drinks came out so late we'd forgotten we'd ordered them. They came out after our appetizer. The waiter mentioned bringing individual plates to share the appetizer, but never did. After food was brought out we were only checked on at the end of the meal. Staff was polite but quiet and unfriendly, as if they were upset we'd arrived for lunch.
The kitchen seemed to run well. Food was fast, delicious and plated beautifully. After all this, top was included in the bill, which we hadn't seen mentioned on the menu.
We found the experience sad and even the great food didn't make up for the lack of service.

Back of house here is amazing! Food was awesome and would highly recommend the Classic Eggs Benedict!
Front of the house service is slow and almost non-existent. Feels like the servers don’t even want to be here. Took forever to get service while they were obviously standing around the server station waiting to be directed to help our table.

I found plastic in my meatloaf leftovers (see photo). I emailed Trout Farm Inn separately to let them know and haven’t heard back in two weeks. I never leave reviews, even for restaurants I don’t like, but I figured this is something that needs to be known because plastic in food is a hazard.

Besides the plastic, the food itself wasn’t disgusting or anything but was painfully average. The meatloaf was plain and the vegetables on the side were completely undercooked. The fish sandwich wasn’t flavorful. Overall disappointing and not worth the money. Finding plastic in the food the next day was the nail in the coffin for us not going back.

I had left a review awhile back. Then deleted it because I felt bad leaving a negative review on a local spot. However, I felt the need to leave one again. We live about a mile away and held out hope that some changes would happen in this establishment the last 6 months we’ve lived in the neighborhood. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case :(

Visit #1-
Sat in the dining area on a weekday evening. Wasn’t busy inside at all. About one waitstaff to each seated table. After being seated it took almost 20 minutes for our waiter to acknowledge us. At that point we gave our food and drink orders. Nearly 20 minutes after orders were taken, we had to get up and walk to the bar to check on the status of our sodas…which hadn’t been poured. Food came out, it was delicious. Bbq bacon burgers, super tasty! We finished, sat there for about another half hour before we had to get up to find our waiter to get our check. The service was horrible. Waitstaff didn’t come by to check on us once while we ate, nobody came to ask if we wanted more drinks). Food 10/10, service 0/10.

Visit #2,
Sat in the bar at a table. Couple other tables seated and two or three people at the bar. Two bartenders on staff and a waiter buzzing around the bar. Took 15 minutes to be attended to by the waiter. Took our full order. Took nearly 20 minutes for our drinks. The waiter forgot our appetizer and didn’t realize until he brought out entrees and I mentioned that he forgot the appetizer. He said he could go make it really quick…but at that point we had our food. Yet again nobody checked on us while we ate, nobody asked if we wanted refills. I had to get up and ask the staff for condiments, then again had to get up to flag them down to get our check. The entrees were great. Service, horrible yet again.

Visit #3-
We did online order for pick up. Great food per usual. Hostess grabbed it from the kitchen quickly and off I went.

Tonight, fourth and FINAL visit. We will not be back. We have tried to like this place so much but there are too many things going wrong for such a high price point menu.
Sat at a table in the bar. Three tables of two people and one single person at the bar. One bartender and one waiter working the area. Took about 10 minutes for us to be acknowledged. Bartender came over and took our order. Drink wait was fine this time, just a few minutes.
However. Entrees came out. My husband’s was fine. I ordered the special Frito Misto (see picture of the specials menu from tonight). It said it was rock shrimp, pacific shrimp and calamari. Sounds amazing, right? WRONG.
It comes out and it’s pacific shrimp, calamari and a poorly cooked chunk of some white fish. I ask the lady buzzing around the bar what it was. She told me “oh, there was a misprint on the specials menu, it’s rock FISH not rock SHRIMP.” So, when I originally ordered, the waiter (bartender) neglected to tell me what I was ordering was not actually what I was ordering. I was livid quite frankly. I would’ve never ordered rock fish. So, money down the drain. No apology from them. No offer to perhaps give me more pacific shrimp to make up for THEIR MENU MISTAKE.

We’ve tried again and again but every visit except the take out was mostly just awful. We won’t be spending our money here again. The waitstaff is less than trained and less than attentive. It’s really dang unfortunate.

Side note, their cheesecake is one of the best I’ve had.
