Everything is handmade. Corner bead hash is delicious. Very large portions (mine lasted through two more breakfasts at home). The owner is a fixture on the Coast.

Been coming to Ft Bragg for years, how did we miss this place? We met the owner(?) or manager and she said they've been here 15 years. If you're in town and looking for great food and a great value, don't miss it like we did. My dining companion had the steak and eggs for breakfast. Huge steak garnished with butter and minced garlic. I had the egg combo choosing the hamburger patty and both of us had the red skin home fries. For bread choices partner had rye (homemade?) and I opted for the pancake. Coffee (french dark from Thanksgiving Coffee (local) rounded out breakfast. You will definitely leave full, and potentially with a go-box in hand!

I love having breakfast at local diners and I do it almost anywhere I go in this country. This place takes the cake for the most amazing food we've had in a while!
The first hint that it might be good, is that it was exceptionally busy for a non-holiday Monday morning. There was just a short wait for a table in the packed restaurant.
My wife had the club sandwich and I also talked her into a bowl of clam chowder. We've had clam chowder in San Francisco on the pier, in New England, etc and she said this was the best chowder she's possibly ever had. She's not really a bacon person but the bacon on the chowder really added another dimension to the classic soup. The same bacon was really nice in the club sandwich, thick cut, fried to a good crisp.
I had the chicken fried steak. I order chicken fried steak for breakfast. If they don't have chicken fried steak, I don't bless the establishment with my presence. Needless to say, I can compare this chicken fried steak with quite a few, and save for maybe one or two in Texas, this is the best. This is probably the best chicken fried steak in California. A nice gravy with some bacon on it and a good crispy crust over a tender steak that has just enough bite.
Prices were average, pretty good when considering the portions. Service was really good, everybody was checked up on regularly and our cups were kept full. Overall a great place to have breakfast and I'd like to come back to town just to have a meal here!
