MJ sushi is surprisingly affordable and thereby amazing for families! My surprise favorite was the TAKOYAKI. Primarily appetizers and rolls here, plus 3 rice bento selections, so you're not going to find udon or nabes. The rolls were great with fresh tasting fish, while the chicken and salmon teriyaki were very understated in flavor but add some soy sauce and you're good to go. Food arrives really fast and it's a huge restaurant so usually no wait to get a table. There were a lot of groups and families eating here, so we fit right in.
All MJ sushi locations are stellar. Delicious

Had a fantastic time here. Came on a whim and they had my food ready in a short amount of time, they gave me a free watermelon drink which happens to be my favorite flavor of all time. How did they know? They didn’t. But it made my night. The staff is very friendly that that makes all the difference. Keep it up.

Great sushi, unbelievably fast service. Tabo is a real one.
I arrived at SushiPlace at 9:05 PM, and on Google Maps it said they closed at 9:30 PM. However, they told me I could only order to-go because they didn’t want to serve food inside anymore. This is very disappointing, because if it really closed at 9:05 PM I wouldn’t have come here and wasted my time.

Have a simple lunch - 2 rolls. My friend does not eat raw food, based on the description of the 2 rolls they should cooked but end up with raw salmon. It will be good if the restaurant label whether it is all cooked or with raw.

Love the food and sashimi selections were very fresh and good cuts. BUT, management- if you’re reading this, please instruct your cleaner to only use tiny amount of pine-sol to clean. The whole restaurant smelled like it on 2/2 visits. Huge put off!

I was surprised how empty it was when I have lunch there. The food was great! We ordered deluxe chirashi bowl and warrior rolls. The fish in the chirashi bowl is very fresh and thick cut. The chef is quite generous! Total cost is 64$, 32 per person, that’s not bad for the quality.

One of the most average sushi places I’ve ever been to. MJ Sushi is not stellar nor horrible, just plain average.
First, the negatives. The atmosphere is pretty lacking. It’s clean, and you can tell it’s a sushi place, but other than that, it has a basic modern restaurant look. In addition, the quality of the dishes were inconsistent. My sashimi was fresh, but my Mom said her tuna rolls were warm, as if they’ve been sitting out, and simply didn’t taste good. She couldn’t finish them and had to bring them home.
As for the positives, there is a lot of space. There were plenty of open tables, and I bet they could fit more if they wanted to. Therefore, there was no wait to be seated. The employees were also polite and quick with our orders. One gimmick I found interesting was the small cups of free ice cream they gave out to every table. Them being open on a late 4th of July evening was also a plus, since every other place we wanted to go to was closed at that time. That’s the only reason why tried this place out, honestly.
Overall, I wouldn’t want to come again, but I wouldn’t hate it if I had to. 3/5.

Food is good but service is bad and unfriendly. If you really like sushi and don't want to drive far outside foster city, order takeout from this place.

The waitress served our salad in a to go container for dine in. Teriyaki chicken was unflavored and the sushi rolls were way too expensive for the price. They were unevenly cut and the bare minimum fish/ toppings
Overall very disappointing and I wonder why they have a decent rating on Google.
