This place is a childhood restaurant that my parents would take me often to when we have a craving for good Chinese food. The service is what you would expect from any Chinese restaurant, with speedy servers who gets straight to the point and onto the next customer. But when I went back to the restaurant for a quick hit of childhood nostalgia, it didn't feel the same with the change in ownership. The place still only takes cash, which is fine, but it would be nice to have some sort of card payment method. The quality of the food went noticeably down compared to the past while the prices went up. Two plates would run you about $32. It isn't the same anymore, but it still has a place in my heart.

I feel like lowk this place is a hole in the wall. Been eating here since i was a kid for like 10 years. Prices have gone up obviously but food still hits the same

The clam are not fresh. Price is not cheap, we ordered 3 dishes for 2 persons are over $63. They are automatically added 15% service charges and cash only without verbal notice or on the menu before when we order the food. Last customer had a right to choose to sit down.

We've been going to New Yong Kang for 20 years. It used to be pretty good, and the price was right (three dishes for $16 way back then). Since the pandemic, however, the quality of the food has gone down, which is a real bummer. The fried chicken, for instance, is always dry now -- it used to be delicious, juicy. They no longer have dishes with oysters, such as oysters with black bean sauce and with scallions and ginger. They've never had any dishes that had decent sauces. Their fried foods, like salt and pepper squid and rock cod, are still as good as before. However, something's definitely missing these days. We are always disappointed when ordering our usual four to six dishes from there, as half the dishes are overcooked, too dry, with no sauce, just not as good as before and not as good as other places in the area. I hope the management reads this review and makes changes for the better.

Not too busy at 6pm. Got seated and order the 3 dishes for $40 deal. Great portion, yummy food, fast turnaround, great times! Definitely a hidden gem in Fremont! Great price-to-value ratio!

Yum! Rock cod corn is super delicious. All the food is good and well flavored. Cash only and easy to phone in the orders. Loved the honey walnut shrimp. Not sure on the ambiance as we get the food to go. Chinese chicken salad was also delicious.

I paid for two orders of half a hinan chicken, $31 and I literally got two boxes of less than a quarter chicken and most of it was bones. Won't be coming back here again

My friend introduced me to this local Chinese restaurant in Fremont, california. Authentic Cantonese cooking at their best.I was told their eggplant pork dish is their best seller, unfortunately I was not in the mood for eggplant this evening. I went with the lamb with stick bean curd clay pot, bittermelon fish and the stir fried snow pea leaf. The meat was started with a wonderful house soup cooked with pork and asian herbs, I finished it all, so tell me if it was any good. The lamb dish required a lot of rice to accompany and it was pretty darn great, I would have liked a lot more bean curd. It is sometimes served with a preserved bean curd sauce but they didn't serve it that way here. The bittermelon was cooked a little crunchy the way I like it, the only complaint was the fish was not to my liking too much. The snow pea leaf dish was well, great. Their portion size was almost double what would be served in other restaurants, I certainly appreciate normal serving sizes like this.As in typical Chinese restaurants I just asked if they had these dishes without looking at the menu and if it was fresh, I really don't know how to order off a menu because culturally that's not how dishes are ordered in a true Chinese restaurant. The waitress just let me know if the kitchen could cook what I wanted and if the ingredients were available. The restaurant was a pretty good size with lots of tables which could accommodate small groups as well as larger parties, the decorations reminded me of older Chinese restaurants, very comfortable setting. The menu is so extensive that I'm not able post the whole menu which I didn't pay any attention to anyway.

This place used to be pretty good she really crowded. The prices have gone up significantly since COVID. The food is decent and most people order take out from here. Because of the prices there's just not much value in this place anymore and it shows in it's popularity

We used to stop by the restaurant order take home dishes from ski trip back to South Bay. But the restaurant is different now. Today my wife ordered 3 take home dishes. Two of the dishes are beef broccoli and seafood Tofu. Beef is the toughest I ever had. Worst the seafood tofu was cooked with soured tofu. I threw them away after eaten one tofu, which had foul smell. I pray that I won't get food poison. Just because it was a take out order, the restaurant is cutting corner using outdated ingredients. Totally irresponsible and unethical. Please stay away from them, especially if you are ordering takeouts.
