Upon entry, I found the associates courteous with their smiles and slight bowing from the waist. A very Asian trait that, on top of the recording of the music of internationally renowned Arjit Singh in the background, added authenticity to the place. The servers were professional yet very warm and friendly. I ordered the flat bread with broccoli and onions, with a request to tone down the spiciness because of a previously bad experience with Indian food in San Diego. The flat bread was served hot with the delicious aroma of the spices wafting from the generous helping of the round bread that filled the entire 12" diameter pan! I was able to see and enjoy the taste of both the broccoli and onions in the flat bread. It was even served with a side of sliced fresh onions in vinegar and soy sauce together with another side of white sauce that tasted like cream of broccoli soup. Everything on the table, including a complimentary mango-with-yogurt drink, was a perfect blend, and I did not have to drench the table napkin nor my shirt with my sweat due to the level of spices tolerated by Indians but excessive to non-Indians. They gave me, a non-Indian, a spicy meal that I relished earlier this evening! Kudos to the entire staff!

Leave your taste buds at home if you wanna come to this restaurant. It will be the blandest food you ever eat.
We ordered the veg Manchurian the sauce was terrible. We ordered the Dabeli It was so bad that we sent it back. It was just boiled potatoes and bread. The manchow soup was boiled vegetables in salty water. It had a weird smell to it. I could not guess what

For the main course, we ordered a paneer dish and saag along with garlic naan itwas forgettable
We ordered Puri Sabzi for the kids. I was surprised to see it was just baked potatoes. That’s what they call Sabzi. I wonder how people eat that
So please do yourself a favor and skip this restaurant unless you like really really bland food .

Food is average & too much oily but the main thing is services.
I visited almost 26 countries & so many restaurants but, I never had such an experience before.I really want to meet their owner once and tell him whether you know the services of your staff or not. They treat me like beggar.I reached 9.10 pm & they were in a hurry to close the restaurant so even I’m eating my food, one of staff lady pressured me to give them money while I was eating.
Then other sardarji staff member treated me badly.
I don't recommend anyone to go to this restaurant. It's better to be hungry than not.

If you value your dignity, you would never go to this restaurant to be insulted.

It was my first visit. Coming from LA, I was pleasantly surprised to see the variety in the menu. The food is not greasy or super spicy as some of the restaurants in southern CA. The staff is very well trained! Good job, guys! Keep it up!

I’ve been coming at Chaat Bhavan for years, and the service has always been friendly, quick, and professional. The staff are polite and hardworking—even during busy hours, they manage to serve everyone efficiently.

Last evening while dining with my parents, we experienced something very unethical. It was past closing time, and the staffs were simply doing their job requesting the customers in a calm and a polite manner, but the table next to us spoke very rudely to the staffs. Let’s not forget that restaurants have to close and clean up, and it's basic courtesy as a customer to respect that.

Chaat Bhavan continues to be packed for a reason — great food, solid portions, and hardworking staff. I highly recommend trying it yourself instead of judging based on one exaggerated complaint.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would.

My experience at Chaat Bhavan was terrible from start to finish. The service was by far the worst I’ve ever seen. While I was still eating, the staff brought the bill and practically shoved it in my face — incredibly rude and unprofessional. It felt like they were in a rush to kick me out.

On top of that, the staff was careless and had no sense of hospitality. Their attitude was cold, and they made no effort to be polite or helpful. I came in expecting a warm, welcoming Indian dining experience, but I left extremely disappointed.

I do not recommend this place to anyone looking for good service or a pleasant meal. There are many better options out there that actually respect their customers.

Keep on Travelling

Over the years prices have gone up and food taste, portions have changed. But we still go because it's the only pure vegetarian restaurant in the Bay Area. I tried their $4.99 Naan. It was quite thin and chewy. White gravy Paneer was ok. Desert portion was also quite less.
You need to spend at least $50 to $60 ( Two people) here. Chaat Bhavan used to be reasonable before the renovation. After paying so high you get some points which doesn't make sense.

This is a quick bite place and not conducive for meeting people and having long conversations.

Nice experience with family. Authentic Indian taste. Good thing is it's vegetarian only.
