Ignore the old reviews about Datang, the Chinese restaurant. This is now Yummy Fresh - a hot pot meat shop. We've been needing this in the neighborhood! They are so helpful and nice! Come here for perfectly sliced hot pot meat. Beautiful kurobuta pork, Australian lamb, wagyu beef, Fuzhou fish balls, and even Chongqing broth starter.

Glad I gave Datang Kitchen a second chance! The first time I had their combo special, the taste of the orange chicken and veggie chow mein was really off and had a weird texture, and I almost completely wrote off this place. I've ordered their combo special another 4-5 times since then and it's been incredibly consistent. Often times when I order orange chicken from other Chinese take out places, I get unlucky with many "dud" orange chicken pieces that are either tough to chew or are overly breaded. That isn't the case here as their chicken is consistently dense and juicy. The chow mein is also great, but I noticed it tastes best when paired together in their orange chicken combo special. I didn't find it as remarkable when ordered separately which is something I've only had to do once. I guess some magic happens when the two are combined and their sauces mix together. Speaking of the sauce, it can be excessive (in the best way) as I notice a pool of it always forms in the takeout trays provided after plating the food.

My go to in Fremont, quick easy and dash-able. We always turn to Datang "when we don't know what to get" you know that conversation! Orange chicken, Datang beef all good! But it's a tiny place might be take out only. But the food is always hot and not greasy like some other places.

Some of the best orange chicken I've had for takeout, I've come back for this alone. The fried rice was rather disappointing, it was lacking in flavor and a little too dry for me, I'd sub this for their noodles next time.

I have always driven by Datang Kitchen often since I live in the neighborhood and this past Sunday is the day of truth. I'm going to give this spot a try! I ordered the Datang chicken on the menu and they asked me if I wanted chow mien or fried rice with it. Wait what? This is not just the dish only but the lunch special? Well, it definitely didn't specify it clearly on the menu. Well, I ended up getting the chow mien with it.All in all, this review was a tough call for me. At one hand, the food is decent, but on the other hand, the food resembled too closely to Panda Express. Therefore when it boils down to reviews, I settled on four stars for them. Here are some highlights from my experience:1. There was no clear indication that each dish came with rice or chow mien on the menu. What if I wanted only the Datang chicken instead and no carbs? Would that price change?2. The food is unoriginal. I feel they should come out with some original dishes. With so many immigrants in the area, it would definitely help them with appeal. Copying Panda Express is okay, but why do that when you have others that are looking for something more original in the area? That being said, who can say they dislike anything Panda Express makes?3. The restaurant is dated. You can tell fairly quickly that a lot of remodeling is needed when you walk in. Despite the interior in being clean, most are just doing take-outs. If I were to come back, I would probably do the same as well.I sincerely hope that Datang Kitchen take steps to change. Times change, people change, and they should change for the better as well.

Go for the great food. The couple who run the restaurant are very welcoming and helpful. Even though the atmosphere is spartan, the food more than makes up for it.Parking: Because the restaurant is near the intersection of two busy highways, it's easy to pass it the first time. There's only space for a few cars on the street, but there's a sizable parking lot out back. You'll have to walk to the front, as there is no public rear entrance.

My wife tried this place for the first time today for take-out. Don't let the small size of this place fool you! The food was so good! We got the House Chow Mein, Sweet & Sour Pork, and the Mushroom Chicken. Great prices and large portions! The food was so good and the owners are so nice! We will be back!

The food is fresh and delicious, serious quality Chinese take out. Clean eating, my tummy will thank me for eating this and not Panda Express & it's is much better in terms of flavor. The sweetest lady at the front, I will be back to give her more of my money for sure. You can just tell they actually care about what they do there.I look forward to ordering from here again. The mushroom chicken was phenomenal, so flavorful and the portion was generous. Fried rice was simply perfect, not drowned in sauce or oil, it was fluffy and appetizing. Orange chicken satisfies your Panda Express craving but doesn't ruin your stomach afterwards lol. Thank you!

Looking for Chinese food that feels like home? No matter your race or nationality, getting food from Datang means getting not just authentic Chinese food, but also comfort food that feels home cooked. I can literally eat their specialty Datang chicken every single day of the week! It is flavorful, not too greasy and always very satisfying. Try it for yourself!! ~ very happy and returning customer:)

Datang Kitchen is a small local business off Fremont Blvd, close to the 99 Ranch. I ordered take-out at around 7pm and it took roughly 20 minutes for our food to be ready. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite dark and not too impressive, so would opt to take-out food. Helps that they have their own small parking lot in the back. The lady at the cashier was really nice and friendly!I ordered two combo meals, which contain a side of steamed rice, fried rice, or vegetable chow mein. However there was no fried rice as an option, and I believe it was because it was close to closing, so make sure to go early if you want it!The broccoli beef 's beef was standard-tasting and slightly thin; the broccoli that it came in was also pretty standard. I also ordered the orange chicken, which had a good crisp to it and wasn't too sweet. Overall, I preferred it over the broccoli beef. The chow mein that came with the combo, on the other hand, was the standout. The huge quantity of noodles were very chewy and thick, and the sauce it was cooked with was quite good. The only downside was that there wasn't as much cabbage in it, and it was quite oily, but still delicious. The steamed rice was a standard dry rice, nothing special. Would have wished to compare the fried rice.Overall, a 7/10. While the food wasn't amazing, it was a solid chinese-american food spot and I would be willing to try more dishes from their menu. If you plan to visit, I would recommend calling in advance to avoid any wait times.

This place is definitely one of the better Chinese food places I've been to!The fried rice has really good smokiness that adds depth. Honey walnut shrimp hit the spot!
