We had a very disappointing experience with a server named Nabil. He made several mistakes with our order and was extremely rude. As we were leaving, he said, “If you want Afghan food, go to Afghanistan. This is an American restaurant.”
We’ve been loyal customers for over 20 years, but this level of disrespect is unacceptable. If any of the owners are reading this, please address his behavior and ensure he understands how to treat customers with basic courtesy. I will also be reaching out to the owner directly.
To others: be cautious when dealing with Nabil. If you’ve had a similar experience, I encourage you to share your review so he can understand that in the U.S., respectful service matters.

Our experience at De Afghanan was very disappointing. The food was bland and overpriced, and we even found a candy wrapper in our dish—which is unacceptable. When we asked for a refund, the staff hesitated and, to make matters worse, added a gratuity charge to our bill. The service felt rushed and inattentive, and the cramped seating made it uncomfortable. For the price, I expected much better quality and customer care. I won’t be returning.

I ordered Chiken Tkka kabob and both potato and hives (gandana) bolani, the bolanis were average
Their chicken wasn’t good at all, their rice tasted as left over, their shor Nakhod was average
Their prices are too high

I’ve been going here for the past 20 years and it’s always been great. The food is authentic Afghan cuisine and I can’t speak enough about it. My recommendation is the potato bolani, actually all their dishes are great.

I went to this place with my five guests at the middle of Ramadan 2025 to have our Iftar/dinner here. Unfortunately, the beef kebab, lamb kebab and chicken kebab which we ordered were fried in oil instead to be cooked on coal/fire, and each kebab for a person meal is contained of 3 or 4 pieces of small meat and it wasn’t giving the taste of kebab! the rice was not looking freshly cooked rice. The quality of their food is really very very bad in general!
The cheapest order of their menu is over $18 bucks and it looks like they opened this restaurant to rob people.
I really don’t recommend this place for anyone to burn their money.
If anyone who goes to this restaurant, he/she will be regretful like I am regretful!

We arrived at 3:20 pm and were told they were closed even though Google Maps says it was not closing between lunch and dinner. As we left, we saw the hours on a door, which said it was open until 3:30 pm. Others were eating in the restaurant. Need an hours posted by the front door and not at the employee's entrance.

Food is mediocre, low quality for the price.
The workers weren’t sure if the meat was Halal.

The food here is amazing but the service is not. I dined here in 2017 but have not been back since then. I came in on a Friday night and we ordered Mantoo and two different kebab platters. The server who took our order was kind of rude and expressionless. It took us 50 mins to get our appetizer and mains which was annoying.

Then they forgot to bring the bread that comes with our mains. It took me 20 mins to flag someone down to get the bread. The waiter didn’t even apologize for not bringing it. I feel like this place is good for take out but not so much for dining in.

This place is SO good! Been coming here for years and the food is just as good as ever. First of all the service is excellent; servers Masoud and Nawid were just incredible people - super kind and helpful. The cooking staff - David, Yadira, and Judith are also so friendly and talented at what they do. The lamb under rice is always melt off your fork tender. The bolani is crispy and moist and just a little bit spicy, which goes perfectly with the tart yogurt. And the Mandu ? were delicious and unique from Asian dumplings. Portions are very generous and we always have leftovers. My wife and I love this place and highly recommend it!!!
