1 We came to your restaurant to eat. On the location it showed open, but now it’s closed. What kind of restaurant management is this?

Rarely ever do I like to give a one star review but I must say I was extremely disappointed in my experience here.
The beef was well-done and extremely chewy, no one asked for preference on beef. Chicken wasn’t good either. Portions were small compared to other Afghan restaurants in the area. Service was non existent. No one ever came to check or ask me if I needed more water. I went to the washroom and they took everything away, and didn’t even ask if I wanted to take the food home or pack it.
Very odd and unusual experience and I won’t be going back here again.
Used to go their location in San Francisco all the time and it was great. However my experience this time was not good at all.

I have been to all three of De Afghanan, had very good experience in the next door and Walnut Creek branches, this was the worst.
I invited friends from San Jose and I came from Sacramento, ordered 2 bolani and 4 different types of kabobs. The worst customer service, the tall older server was acting like he was giving us charity.

Not Afghan Food at All
The name is misleading, this is nowhere close to real Afghan cuisine. I should’ve listened to my uncle and avoided this place. If you can’t cook Afghan food properly, don’t use the name. Disappointing.

Really like the environment of an authentic design and music. The service was ok, dish I order was pretty decent taste and large portion of meats compared other restaurants with a similar price range.

I was traveling and I wanted to give this restaurant a try for Afghan food. I was extremely disappointed with their service. The atmosphere of this restaurant is charming but it doesn’t cover up for the lack of customer service for my experience.

Went for a combination of Kabob. The meat was flavourful and juicy. Nice sized portion and overall taste was really good. One of The bread that came along was not fresh and cold!

DeAfghan is the definition of 'Hole in the wall spots that should not be missed'. While the décor and exterior is not glitz and glamour, do not be fooled. This is the BEST afghan spot in Northern California, bar none. This IS the definition of traditional Afghan food. Being a 30+ year resident of Fremont, our Afghan friends use to rave and brag about this place. We visited it for the first time over 25 years ago and have been hooked ever since. We have since moved away from the Bay, but the only one thing that we really miss in Fremont, the one thing we CANT get anywhere else. is De Afghan. In 2024 I was in Australia, caught up with comparable Afghan restaurant in Melbourne, and even they knew about this place, had family in the area and raved about how good it is. Its not cheap but worth every penny. We have eaten literally every single thing on the menu, and our favorites are Spicy Potato Bolani w/ Green Chutney, Chicken Plate w/ Basmati and Jalapeno chunks. Geez, writing this review makes me want to hop in the car to drive 3 hours to have lunch.

Disappointed with the takeout experience.
I had previously dined at this restaurant and had a great experience—delicious food and generous, unlimited sauces, which really elevated the meal. That made me excited to order takeout this time. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match up.
Each dish cost around $22, but they only included one small sauce per container. When I asked for more, I was charged an additional ~$3 for extra sauces, most of which I didn’t end up liking. It felt stingy compared to the in-restaurant experience, and it definitely took away from the overall enjoyment.
Sad to say, I was really disappointed this time. I hope they consider treating takeout customers with the same quality and generosity as dine-in.

I've been coming here with my dad for many years and this time, the proportions are hilariously small.
Attached is a picture of the lamb shank with 60% bone, and 40% meat - what is this, literally as much meat as 3 chicken nuggets lol 😂 💀

Based on past reviews and current experience, it seems they have grown too big for their britches. The poor female server was drowning in orders while the male server bumbled around and bussed tables occasionally. Also, 1 bathroom for a restaurant serving approximately 50 people? Food was great though.
