Food and service were excellent! We loved Ashok Anna’s parotta. Never had such an amazing parotta anywhere in the Bay Area. Took me back to roots in south India.

Very underrated place with great finds like these. Parotta, kal dosa vadacurry, and mix veg pakodas!!!

Dosa Hut in Fremont is absolutely fantastic! The dosas are perfectly crispy, flavorful, and served hot – just like back home. Every bite feels authentic and delicious, with chutneys and sambar that are rich in taste and complement the dosa so well. The portion sizes are generous, and the quality is top notch.

What makes the experience even better
is the service – the front counter guy is extremely friendly, polite, and welcoming. He goes out of his way to make sure you feel comfortable and taken care of, which makes dining here a real pleasure.

If you’re in Fremont and craving authentic South Indian food, this is the place to go. Highly recommend Dosa Hut – amazing food, amazing service, and an overall wonderful experience!

One of the best, authentic tasting, and affordable South Indian restaurants in Fremont, if not the Bay Area. Food is great, and staff are awesome. It’s a staple for me, eat here twice a week.

It was the first time I had been there. The food was terrific, the prices were great and the staff friendly. It was just a little warm inside.

We visited Dosa Hut for the first time and were genuinely impressed with the food. The dosa was hands down delicious. However, I did want to share some feedback about our experience with one of the staff members, which I hope is taken in the spirit of improvement.
While asking for recommendations on a spicy dosa, my husband innocently and casually inquired whether the Andhra Dosa was a best-seller. The staff member — a young man ( I believe he is a student that’s why that amateur response)— responded rather abruptly, saying “Andhra is always special because Andhra people are special .” While that may have been intended to highlight the uniqueness of the dish, the tone felt dismissive and unnecessarily sharp.
This wasn’t an isolated moment. We also noticed a similar tone when he responded to a friend’s query earlier. That said, I do recognize that everyone has tough days, and perhaps he was exhausted from a long shift. As a doctor, I understand the challenges of dealing with people continuously ..but professionalism and respect must remain constant, no matter how tired we may be.
I’m sharing this feedback not to criticize, but in the hope that it helps create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers and also as a fellow Indian student in United States , I felt his remark could unintentionally spark communal or caste-based sentiments. This is the kinda behavior of our countrymen that sparks debates in the western world .Once again, the food was wonderful though , and I sincerely wish the staff all the best.

The food was really good. My wife and I entered only 2 minutes before closing but Surendra was very helpful and courteous and we are well. Highly recommend.

I’ve been to many South Indian restaurants in both India and the Bay Area, and this is one of the worst I’ve ever tried. There are much better South Indian restaurants nearby.”

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years, but my recent visit was extremely disappointing. First, I saw the cashier handling money and then immediately preparing food without washing his hands. When I asked him to wash his hands, he looked visibly annoyed. That’s basic food safety — it shouldn’t be something customers have to point out.

What made it worse was that he then asked a staff member — who I had just seen cleaning the restroom — to prepare my takeout order. That’s completely unsanitary and unacceptable.

On top of all this, the food quality has noticeably gone downhill over the years, yet the prices have gone up. And now they prompt for a tip on takeout orders? For what service, exactly?

I’ve supported this place for a long time, but this experience was a huge letdown. Also, a reminder to the staff: don’t judge someone by how they’re dressed — respect goes both ways.
