Recently, we were craving some slightly-less-healthy-than-home-cooked Cantonese/Chinese restaurant food, and MW Gourmet turned out to be a fantastic choice with reasonable prices.FOOD:+ Sweet & Sour Rock Cod Fillets: one of my favorite dishes to judge a restaurant by -- I was happy to see that the fish fillet pieces were sizable (lots of fish, not just batter!) I also appreciated that they put the sweet & sour sauce in a separate container so that the fish didn't get soggy, especially since we had leftovers. The batter itself was already savory, so you could also choose to not add any sweet and sour sauce on top at all, but I thought the sauce did make it even better.+ Braised Tofu & Seafood Clay Pot: as you might guess, the to-go version doesn't come in a clay pot. But it was still good and had a nice mix of tofu and seafood (fish fillet, shrimp, squid).+ Scrambled Egg & Shrimp Chow Fun Noodles: another one of my favorites -- again, they separated the shrimp & egg sauce from the noodles, so the noodles didn't get soggy on the drive home. I do wish the egg was more part of the sauce rather than egg pieces in the sauce - but personal preference.+ Walnut Shrimp: this one was A-OK in my book. Not amazing but not bad. Maybe a little too much mayo?+ Deep Fried Salt & Pepper Pork Chops: the pieces of pork were pretty fatty and on the saltier side. If you're looking for something unhealthy, this is a great option. The peppers were quite spicy, adding a nice kick to cut the fattiness.+ Yang Chow Fried Rice (see the pick-up order note at the bottom): large portion of fried rice with shrimp, eggs, and savory goodness. Great complement to any of the above items (yes, even the noodles).ORDERING & PICK-UP:We ordered via phone for restaurant pick-up. Both ordering and pick-up were easy.Ordering for pick-up is a better deal here than using delivery services (though they do have Doordash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Eat24 delivery options). * For restaurant pick-up orders over $20, you'll get a free 4 pc order of spring rolls. For pick-up orders over $30, you'll get a free order of Yang Chow fried rice ($10 value), which is pretty worth it -- it's a hefty take-out container of fried rice!Overall: MW's food is a solid choice!

Was looking for my 3 basics when trying out a new Cantonese restaurant. MW was not far from where we were staying, so ordered online at 4pm for 6pm pickup. Food was ready ontime, lady was friendly and polite. My usual 3: beef chow fun, tomato beef chow mean, salted fish and chicken fried rice. The fried rice was one of best we've had. Tomato beef had good flavor and beef was generous and amazingly tender. Could have used a bit more sauce for flavor, but that's just me. Beef chow fun pretty standard, very good, notable that beef amount was generous and very tender. All 3 dishes were great. Now we are looking forward to going back and trying more dishes!

Best Cantonese food in the area! They might be pricier than nearby Chinese restaurants, but definitely worth the price. They now have a special during SIP: free fried rice with any purchase of $30. I tried the fried rice and it was very delicious. See pics for their menu.

The food is great! My favorite dish is shrimp fried rice. However, I suggest you order over the phone instead of using an app IF you can go in person to pick up your food. I say this because you'd be able to request they provide a good enough portion of shrimp. If you use an app for this particular dish, you might get a less than pleasing amount of shrimp. Overall, their dishes taste amazing. In this area, I prefer this Chinese restaurant over many others (I've tried a lot). If you're hungry for some fried rice, chow mein, or any other dish your taste buds might desire - Look no further!

Plain porridge was not the right silky smooth taste. Teriyaki beef mushroom was ok but not enough taste. The complementary yang chow fried rice after $30 was not bad. The egg shrimps gravy hor fun was ok but shrimp was small.

I am very happy with all of their congee options. It is truly a staple to Chinese cuisine. The overall cost per item is very reasonable also considering the amount of dedication put into their food. I'm happy to discover the original location was in the heart of China town, SF (that's some history and consistency for ya!) I am in love with all of their options, however their congee is what really motivates me to always visit. Their yangchao fried rice is very delicious and original in flavors. You receive a free fried rice when purchasing over $35! Amazing! I'm happy to live close to this restaurant, even if I did not, I would crave until my cravings are satisfied!

Super legit canto food for a decent price. Ordered delivery via DoorDash, and the food was still piping hot when it arrived. Love me some egg gravy noods dish, but it was a bit more watery than eggy to my liking. The eggs could've blended better with the gravy sauce. But man, that tofu seafood pot was legit. Good seafood. Delicious braised tofu! That's my personal fav way tofu is prepared. Mm mm. Would definitely order from them again. 4 stars.

They are open during SIP and over $30 takeout order they give you free fried rice. Call them would be better because you could ask what is fresh today and today special.

I never expect a Chinese restaurant to be super clean. I came here once awhile ago. It's very dirty but the food is okay. Since SIP started, my neighborhood do not have decent Chinese food so I ordered some dim sum thru Weee. One of my siu mai has hair. One of the custard bun in both of my orders has hair, believe it came from the same batch. This is GROSS!!!!

The good was... meh...I ordered from this restaurant based on some of the reviewers on Yelp, but was a little disappointed. We order salt and pepper pork chops...tasted so so, fried rice, bland, walnut prawns, actually ok. I was hoping to find a new Chinese restaurant but the food was just blah, and nothing to write hone about

We recently came to pick up our take out. Buy 2 entrees get one free fried rice. Pretty good deal. The lady at the front, maybe boss lady, she was so nice. She knew times like this we are all afraid to be around each other so she gave us masks to wear while waiting for our food. I hope everyone order from this place and support the business.

I've dined in this place a few times but I think this last visit would be my final visit of MW. We came for lunch on a slow weekday, so there wasn't any problem getting service. The food however was the problem. This place is supposedly famous for congee, but it didn't have the smooth texture that a good congee should have. The two dim sums we ordered were shrimp dumplings (har gao) with too thick of a wrap that I just discarded and ate the filling only. Another dim sum we ordered which made me decided it'd be my last visit was bbq pork bun (char siu bao) , I attached the picture below to let you decide if it looked like a bbq Pork bun !! This is inexcusable, it's like putting a hamburger patty in a hotdog bun ! And the worst was yet to be found inside the bun, it was pulled pork filling (not chunks of bbq pork meat) with no bbq sauce flavor. Lastly, our stir fried veggies was over cooked with soggy veggie leaves soaking in a bed of oil, unacceptable! I'm not going back, you decide if you are.
