Dinner on a Saturday at 5:30. Wonderful experience all around! Food was very delicious and the portions were large. Flavors were perfectly balanced and we could tell the food was prepared by caring chefs. We never had to flag anyone down for anything. Our waters were constantly refilled. Wine was good and priced surprisingly low. Will be back and highly recommend.

We ate there the other night for our anniversary. It had been a while since we have been there and will be returning more often. I felt the value, the selection on the menu, was superb.

We t there for our anniversary. Service was excellent and the owner made it a point to come talk to us and make sure we were happy. We had their fish and lamb shank and escargo for appetizers. All were excellent. Great restaurant in Fremont if you want a more elegant experience.

So, I went in with my wife on 6.8.25 for dinner.
Our server- (Channah F) who we have had as a server before or maybe they were a helper before that I gave 0 stars too for the service.
Service is a profession.
If I go out and spend $240 + or even $25, I expect to get service with my meal.
There was no service just some one bringing me my food with no service and no check backs, no offer of another drink, no upsell.
If you have not decided what or who you want to be please do not leave it to us to decide.
Black nail polish, I expect from a goth person on there time not mine when I'm paying for a meal.
If your going to dress as a professional server please do in in a tasteful manner, not one that is unprofessional to an actual waiter.
A professional waiter never draws attention to them selves but make patrons feel at home, I felt at home like if my trans niece who I love was trying to prove a point or say hi, I'm queer and I'm here, It just looks dirty..
I have been a food and beverage director for many hotels and free standing restaurants and I would never allow it.

This was my second time dining at Papillon—two decades after my first visit. That might sound like a bad start, as if the restaurant wasn’t worth returning to sooner. But let me be clear: Papillon serves some of the best food, period.

I’ve always wanted to come back, but between life and the constant wave of new restaurants around, it just never happened. Plus, with young kids, the more traditional ambiance may not have been as appealing to them. That said, I do hope the owner considers refreshing the dining area and façade. While the old-world charm is part of its identity, a subtle update could breathe new life into the space without losing its character.

Despite the dated decor, the food and service are outstanding—and more than make up for it. I highly recommend Papillon to anyone who values a truly memorable meal.

Went to dinner with a large group for a birthday celebration. We were able to bring our own cake, and the food was delicious!

One of the best onion soups I've ever had!

Really a gem. We had a family birthday dinner here. The French people in the party enjoyed the authenticity of the food (the “really French” stuff is highlighted in the appetizers). Service was really spot on for our family of a couple kids, mostly middle aged adults and a couple seniors. The mood is alive but not loud. The classic interiors do well to keep conversations from echoing all over. A fancy steakhouse is the most comparable, but Papillon is more about the comfort, relaxation, and the genuine service with an appreciation for you being there. I say this after being a few times. But our most recent visit for a 75th birthday was perfect. We brought cake that they took care of all the candles and slicing and serving. Can’t wait for the occasion to go again.
