It was a very unique experience. We went on a Thursday night for some appetizers and burgers. The service was friendly but table visits were few. The food was fine, nothing exceptional. I've heard their prime rib is excellent though. The restaurant decor was very cool; full of history from the 1800's. The dining area smelled like urine, and the water we were served was in plastic bottles. I suggest getting the scent dealt with, buying a water filtration system, and upgrading...
What an incredible personal experience. The small town atmosphere, with the owner welcoming you and sharing the history. The food is just simply the best in the North State. The prime rib, home made blue cheese dressing and croutons. You can’t get better. Absolute perfection! Book it! You won’t regret it. So delicious!
We stopped at the French Gulch Hotel one afternoon after a hike. Met Sandy, the owner. Had a beer and some fun conversation. We were fairly new to the Redding area and she made my wife and I feel welcomed.
We promised to come back for diner sometime.
Well, after a year, we decided “sometime” is now ;-)
Called and got a reservation for 5:30PM. We would have preferred later, but we called only 2 days before.
