Mike's Backyard BBQ @ Garlic World

Lucky for me, my wife stumbled upon this place while exploring Google Maps for lunch places on a drive back to the Bay Area.

We ordered a large family combo with ribs, chicken and tri tip. Everything was very delicious, and our children (10 and 5) loved it too.

I'm looking forward to our next trip that passes through this section of 101!

Mike and his son are one of the best of the best in BBQ in Gilroy and maybe in Santa Clara!! I had the mixed combo and gave me the itis..The bbq was smoked for hpurs and it was soooooooooo good!! Thanks Mike!!!!

My pregnant wife is super indecisive when it comes to food, after a TikTok search she found this place right by the freeway and we never been so happy with food like today, we ordered the 1/2 rack (6 ribs) and it comes with complementary beans and garlic bread. The service was amazing, the ambience is so welcoming, lots of options for peanuts olives garlic, candy and everything you can think of in the store where the Mike’s BBQ is located inside. This is a perfect pitstop when driving by with cooling AC and a nice view of the mountains around gilroy. I’ll leave pictures next time we stop by since we couldn’t wait to eat it when our order was ready minutes after we ordered. 10/10 will try again. Thank you staff & Mikes Backyard BBQ team!

There's BBQ and Than there's BBQ. We called to order 4 family packs for my birthday, and it was phenomenal. Ribs perfectly seasoned, fall off the bone deliciousness. Pulled pork was juicy, savory perfection. Tri tip that you literally the best I've had. Chicken was expertly seasoned and cooked. I can keep going on the sides and service but I'm guessing you get the idea. We will be back, again and again.

I don’t know what place this is, but food here is so good. Like literally one of the best BBQs I’ve ever had. Found it accidentally and was super impressed. I understand why it has so high rating. Totally deserved.

Family friendly environment greatest bbq I ever had

The barbecue ribs were fantastic. Moist tinder came off the bone, very easy and very tasteful. That's without the sauce.

Mike’s BBQ at Garlic World is a barbecue lover’s dream! The brisket is incredibly tender with a rich, smoky flavor, and the ribs are perfectly cooked, falling right off the bone. We decided to stop here after hearing great things and reading some positive reviews, and we're glad we did. We've passed by this place countless times before, but now I’ll never forget the experience. My wife and I were both happily surprised by the food. We had ribs, chicken and pulled pork sandwiches—and everything was incredible. The sandwiches were delicious, but the ribs were something else. They practically fell off the bone with every bite.

What really made the experience special, though, was Mike and his wife. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel like we were family. It’s rare to find a place where you not only love the food but also feel so welcomed. Honestly, even without the amazing food, we’d return just to enjoy their kindness.

If you’re debating whether to stop, don’t think twice. 10/10 would recommend. You won’t regret it.

Stopped by at Garlic World and grabbed a brisket and garlic lovers tritip sandwich to go. Sandwiches came super fast. The meat was impressively tender. I'd skip the coleslaw and get only beans for the side next time.
