I'm really torn about this review because they were nice, the food tasted good overall, and they have a nice selection. However, I found non-food in my food. Specifically I found 3 long strange orange stringy things that were quite tough. I read through every negative review and did not find anyone else with this issue, so I'm hoping it's a fluke. I had the taco salad and perhaps the shredded lettuce had it in it when it was shredded? But before that the taco salad was nice. I was a bit concerned about 3 things though: the bathroom was very dirty, the chip bar was a mess with different ingredients scattered in other locations, and the cashier touched the same spoon handles as the cook without washing her hands. All in all, this has turned me off from returning.

We had been here before and thought it was just ok.. took my in-laws to dinner there tonight and we're super disappointed... First, imo, the prices are high for what u get.. we also noted the restaurant to be somewhat unkept.. I ordered the #13, two tacos with rice n beans... everything was barely warm.. I asked them to reheat my plate, which they did.. my father in laws plate was also cold and he also asked for it to be reheated, but his plate did not come back... I had to get up and go to the counter and ask about it.. the cook said oh yea, and put the plate into the microwave.. the plate had been sitting out on the counter for over 5 minutes.whike we waited.... WHY? No excuse... Last time there.. Too bad there isn't any real authentic Mexican restaurants around.

El Sombrero is one of my families favorite Mexican restaurants. The food is fresh, delicious and made to order. We were there after we left the GBHS homecoming game last Friday night and they had a 2 person mariachi band playing. It was nice.

I now have a second favorite Mexican place to go to in Sacramento. The food was fantastic and authentic. Good portions with good flavor throughout and the variety was what a Mexican restaurant should have.

I recently dined at El Sombrero Taqueria with my family, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. My son's crispy taco was incredibly greasy, my carne asada plate was bland, and even the rice and beans lacked flavor. The prices were higher than other local taquerias, and the lack of flavor made it hard to justify the cost. I won't be returning, and I'm puzzled by the high ratings this place has received. On a positive note, the service was good, and the atmosphere was average.

This restaurant has really good posole. Not a lot of fat. Truly authentic. A carona or model pair very well with posole or mendoza. Athletic all the way here

I’m born & raised in San Diego and the carne asada here beats every Mexican food restaurant I’ve eaten at! Even the taco shops near the San Ysidro border can’t compete with this place. Great prices and just amazing food.
