Age-old Mexican restaurant family-owned and operated since 1971. The place was packed when we visited for a late lunch. It has an extensive menu of traditional and specialty cuisine. I like ordering the Special de la Casa.
It’s simply the best Mexican food around. It’s been in business over 50 years. It’s connected to its Mexican store. It’s also home to the Casa Lupe tortilla factory. They also have a mini tortilla machine right there in the restaurant that kicks out fresh tortillas. You will love their food. It all starts with the chips and salsa. The friendly staff is the best. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday you will get free soup if you order a main entrée if soup is available. They will offer you a free cup. They make the best soup in the entire north state. I love their food and I have since I was a little kid in all started in Live Oak. But we lost them to Gridley. They are well worth the drive people drive all over to go to this restaurant. There is a banquet room if you need to reserve one. It’s great for birthdays or family get-togethers even if you need it. Just talk to the management ahead of time. It’s a great place to eat in their food is always fresh.
Vegetarian options: There is a small section that is vegetarian.
Parking: There’s parking in the front and the back of the restaurant
Kid-friendliness: They understand you have children. They won’t throw them on the streets.
Wheelchair accessibility: Easy wheelchair accessibility, even if you park in the back.
We have been going to Casa Lupe on and off for over 30 years. I would up until today have recommended them highly. Today we ordered kids cheese enchilada add rice and beans and a steak sandwich with fries plain, nothing on them. They could not have messed this up more if it was intentional. There were no sides of rice and beans, but the enchilada was cold and there appeared to be rice and beans inside the enchilada. The sandwich had peppers and some type of white sauce that had a bite to it. My wife called there and was told basically two things. One, take it up with Door-dash, it is not our problem. And that we lied. The woman told my wife that we did not pay for the additional rice and beans. My wife was looking at the order on the screen. I called and spoke to the restaurant. I asked the woman who answered to please get the manager. She told me that he would be back on Monday. I asked "So there is no manager there at 11:50?" She repeated he would be back Monday. I then asked her for the senior person present. She told me that this person had just left for lunch. She would be back after lunch. I told her that I did not believe she was being truthful and told her that I would be recommending to Door-dash that they curtail service pickups at that restaurant. I would rate them a 0 stars but they may think I forgot to fill it out.

Eat at this Casa Lupe a few times a year when in the area. The food is always consistently good. Not authentic Mexican food more “Americanized” but I enjoy it. Love their salsa, best around in my opinion. You can also buy it in the local grocery stores.
