It used to be a decent place to go for something different. In November they said they would remodel and be open in a month. Now its almost March and not open and certainly don't see any remodeling being done. Semms like they are flakekier then the biscuits.
Great southern food. Love the mac and the red beans and rice. Poor boys, fried chicken, gumbo, ettufe, meatloaf, all of its good! Nicests ppl who own it too.
Feels like home immediately upon entering. Papa Jay is super helpful and has a kind energy. I got the fried catfish nuggets, Mac n cheese, and potato salad. The potato salad was good although I found eggshells throughout. Mac n cheese was so good! A little bit of heat in it too! The catfish nuggets were big and fried perfectly. I'm absolutely coming back to try the rest of the menu and to share some laughs with Papa Jay!
I had a craving for fried chicken but didn't want to cook it. So had been wanting to try this place and ordered the fried chicken dinner. Well I was disappointed to say the least. The chicken was heavily breaded. and salty, the sides were ok.I would have been better off going to store and buying and cooking,my,own chicken, at least itWould have been better, by far.
There is better bbq within a 20 mile radius, and you won't wait for an hour for one plate of food. Their menu and recipes would be better with higher quality ingredients .the foodall the meat was b cut, small, local, or perhaps even offal.some of our food tasted like it was cooked over lumberthe ribs were desiccated, which indicates dry curing in the open air, so we chucked em.dry chicken, likely cooked in batches offsite, as stated over lumber (concerning)educated or learned or experienced cooks know why this is dangerous and shouldn't be practiced by non-professionals. This can be hazardous to ingest, but it is indicative of a region and small businesses affected by the environmentalist embargo of every business near the Guadalupe dunes. A sad sordid affair.
Man Tee and his family can cook some good Cajun and Creole food..they from my hometown, now we in central coast California.. Good authentic Acadiana area food !!!
Catfish nuggets and cornbread were good! Mac and cheese wasn’t as fresh as it should have been. Overall pretty good little restaurant.
FUN!!! Very nice people and the food was great ? We'll definitely be back ?
Best food in the area!! Photos looked great online, so I drove 2.5 hours from L.A. here for lunch, and was blown away! So flavorful, portion sizes are great, and that homemade sweet tea is out of this world!
Great tasting barbecue, Diamond in the rough,a gem ? worth the drive on our way to San Luis Obispo. First time trying authentic Louisiana style fried chicken. Amazing! The potato salad was also amazing.Family ran and owned. Give them a try if you're in the area you won't be dissatisfied. ??

If you have never been here, order anything. There is no wrong answer on the menu... family owned and operated, excellent grub that you'll want to show your friends. Best place to eat in Guadalupe; hands down.
Excellent service and momma J takes great care of you. The food is 1rst class.
The food is awsome and all homemade! Poppa J and his family run the place and they make you feel right at home.
Papa Jay is a exciting and fun person to talk with and his gumbo and chicken is some of the best we have ever had!
