Its a fabulous old place. New ownership but still ran good. Only thing is you can't sit and enjoy the ice cream. Take-out only. Can't really eat at park with the people camping there . I had favorite booth now it just collects dust instead of butts. I would be going more often if could sit inside the beautiful old place.

Unfortunately, the new owners do not allow you to sit and enjoy your ice cream anymore. It is take out ONLY. So sad. And don't order a banana split because the couple in front of me did, and it came in a tall paper cup. How in the world do you eat a banana split out of a cup?
The ice cream is still yummy, though.

I had Chocolate chip, and it was delicious.

NOT at all what I expected. If I could give a zero I would. Place is very out dated, 1 single worker, who has no sympathy for anyone. Lobby was empty with signs that have been there since covid-19 closure from 2020. Even now 5 years later, buisness is NOT up and running. said we couldn't stay and eat our over priced I cream $15 for two small cups with single scoop. Even though we had kids with us and the weather was over 100 degrees that day. We mentioned to the employee we were from Out of town and had taken a train ride to come try this place. Lady employee had no mercy on us, and said we could Not stay inside to cool down a bit. We Left. The kids over heating, made it to a McDonald's instead and had much more of a pleasant visit there.
Hanford Superior Dairy, We will NEVER be going back. Please close your doors you are worthless!!

A huge disappointment to someone who drooled at the windows in the early 60's. I missed the dine in experience!
But the ice cream is delicious, and served in large portions.

It is now up for sale, and everyone is broken hearted. People came from all over, because they heard about it and/or tried it and loved it. More than quality ice cream...they reached EXCELLANCE with flavors and pure wonder of quality in the ice cream. We are mourning the loss...all of us.

The ice cream was freezer burnt. What is the thought process behind the milkshakes they serve? Using that metal mixer in a styrofoam cup. They were hardly able to mix the shake at all. If they were to adequately mix the shake, they would get styrofoam in it from brushing the sides of the cup. They should be using a metal tin to mix the ice cream so they can actually go ham and get it done right. I don’t even think they put milk in my milkshake. It was just straight ice cream mixed up a little bit. It was so thick in the worst of ways. And then they give you the narrowest most useless straw ever to drink through. Unpleasant chunks of ice were just present all throughout my “shake”. I’ve never had a worse milkshake in my entire life and that is no exaggeration. Why does anyone go here

So, I’ll say the ice cream was decent. They at least have that going for them. The problem is the atmosphere and the cost. The portions are huge and the prices reflect that. An issue is that kids don’t want all the same flavor so I can’t get one for all to share, I’m spending 10$ per “small” ice cream for most of it to melt in the heat. And it all comes with the thinnest spoon man has invented to eat it with, that bends then breaks when you use it to eat ice cream.

Many others have posted, but there’s no seating inside, you have to take it to go and eat in the triple digit heat (when I went). There’s signs everywhere saying “don’t sit” while we waited in line for 40 minutes, and it just comes across as sort of rude and and unwelcoming.

Another issue is the cleanliness. They work out of the far section of the counter, but the rest is kinda grimy, with gallon bottles of various cleaning supplies out on display instead of in storage, dusty and corroded surfaces, and floors that were filthy since people are dripping giant portions of ice cream all over on their way out the door. The tables and booths were old and beat up but that’s not the issue, that’s just got old character and that’s fine. The place just really has the look that it isn’t regularly dusted, mopped, and surface cleaned.

Overall, I wanted to visit when months ago, we were doing family ice skating in Hanford and we saw people walking out with giant portions of ice cream and thought “what’s that about?”, so we decided to come back and check it out. If I’m being honest I won’t come back. If it was just the price I might still because offset by giant portion which is interesting (even though who needs that much ice cream), but would be worth it to eat in a clean, but nice old ice cream and malt shop/diner setting at the window. But it’s a one and done for me.

Of course you can't dine in anymore! Some businesses died during COVID. Lucky this Gem survived the employees all work really hard to provide quality products and Service to their customers but simply cannot accommodate a dine in experience they have not recovered from recession left after COVID. For anyone NOT from the town I suggest you talk to LOCALS about this AMAZING and historic place. Where Rockers dine and tourist always stop. Where products were created in the same building they served them. Where you get your money's worth. But hey if this ain't the place for you maybe post about YOUR favorite ice cream spot instead of slandering another that doesn't cater to you. A lot of places no longer dine in please enjoy a cheap drive through Baskin Robbins and leave the HIGH QUALITY stuff for others to enjoy instead of trying to take out small business with petty complaints

Only had the ice cream, place is take out only and has lost the charm and character it once had. Owner doesn't seem to want to run a restaurant.
